German channel Autogefühl has published the Cupry Born test, formerly known as Seat el-Born. It is the sibling of the Volkswagen ID.3, more interesting in design, but currently available with a smaller set of batteries and drives. We only have 58 (62) kWh and a 150 kW (204 hp) engine driving the rear wheels.

TEST: Cupra Born (2022)

The Cupra Born is a compact C-segment car, a model that competes directly with the Volkswagen Golf or Seat Leon. Autogefühl is testing an extremely exotic configuration not available in either the German or Spanish configurators. It's a model year (2022) with adaptive suspension, battery capacity 77 (82) kWh i engine with force 150 kW (204 hp) and another e-Boost package... The e-Boost package enables a short-term increase in power output from 20 kW (27 hp) to 170 kW (231 hp).

Unlike its brother brand Volkswagen, Cupra Born even in the cheapest version has 18-inch alloy wheels - in VW ID.3 and ID.4 steel wheels are the most affordable option.

Outside, the car looks more aggressive than its counterpart, inside is softer or stylistically refined upholstery. The armrest in the doors was trimmed with microfiber, a similar fabric - in this version - appeared on the seats. Copper-colored inserts were striking everywhere.

The steering column display and driving mode selector are identical to those of the VW ID.3, only some fonts and letter sizes have changed. The central screen is 12 inches, not 10 inches like the VW ID.3. The multimedia system is slow and it takes a long time to switch between the individual options, the control panel of the air conditioner is unnecessarily complicated, and the touch buttons for adjusting the temperature are still not illuminated.

An interesting fact is the combination of a panoramic glass roof and a 77 kWh battery - due to the weight of the car, these options cannot be selected at the same time. Reviewer praised the driving experience... rear-wheel drive, progressive steering, cornering agility, especially in Cupra mode (with e-Boost). It was found that The Born gives the impression of a much sportier car than an internal combustion car. SeatyIt has also been suggested that the car has been more polished in this respect than the electric Volkswagen.
