Lamborghini Aventador S Road Test - Sports Cars

If you think Lamborghini Aventador S it's just a simple makeup with modernization 40 CV you are wrong. The biggest and boldest of Lambo was refined, improved and redesigned in every detail to make it more manageable, exciting and Rewarding... Exactly like fighter who turns into a middleweight boxer. This is also thanks tocontrolled rear axle, which rotates out of phase at low speeds to make it more agile, and synchronously at high speeds to make it more stable. The system is controlled by a control unit that controls the engine, steering, suspension, differentials and electronic controls to ensure that everything works in unison.

Il engine it's the same, great 12-liter V6,5 naturally aspirated, but now it picks up 150 rpm more and 40 hp in total 740 CV at 8.400 rpm e 690 Nm of torque at 5.500 rpm. Enough to run Lambo from 0-100 km / h in 2,9 seconds, FROM 0 per 200 km / h for 8,8 (Ferrari Enzo uses 9,9), up to top speed 350 km / h.

Also "aerodynamics has been deeply redesigned: now the downforce should be 130% higher, while maintaining greater efficiency. This is a statement from the House of Representatives.

Live view looks like one alien sculpture... Its proportions, its 2,3 meters wide and its nearly horizontal rear window could not have been conceived by humans, or at least not by humans. There is no noble elegance in Maranello's cousins, only brutality and exotic forms. This is Lambo Lambo.

HIS MAJESTY ON THE STREET

If you've heard that this car is “too powerful and too big for our roads,” believe me, it's all a lie. I thought so too before trying it. You can use it every day. Of course they just need a lot of attention and a lot of victims, and, perhaps, you will never find parking... But this can be done. The problem is not in the rigidity (in general, not tragic), but rather in height and width. But once you learn to stop—literally—on bumps and stay in the center of the road as much as possible, you will realize that in the end Aventador S it can also be used for shopping if desired.

For the sake of decency, I deliver you from the head consumption.

Ma how does he behave on the road? At subcompact speeds Lamborghini Aventador S she's pretty awkward. On tight bends, the differentials are so tied that the wheels skid even without acceleration, while broadcast makes the march abrupt and not very smooth. Howeverthe accelerator remains perfectly measurable And in street mode with an automatic transmission, even my mother could drive it without any problems. The Lambo is very polite in this mode and the gearbox shifts all seven gears up to 60 km / h, so much torque.

Seems a little obvious, but 70% of the Aventador S's experience comes from the 12-liter V6,5 engine. who lives two inches from your shoulders... It heats up so much, meows, explodes and explodes so much that the New Year's fireworks look like baby food compared to it. It is at any speed.

If you tilt your foot a few degrees, you will enter another world. Imagine shipping an old Honda Civic Type R V-TEC but in a cubic shape. Up to 5.000 rpm, the V12 is relatively empty, after which it explodes in all its glory to the red zone at 8.500, with scream so uncivilized and rude that hair stands on end even miles away. Videos on Youtube do not convey the idea of the decibels this car is capable of generating. I can't believe this is legal.

I must admit: most of this car's brutality comes from the gearbox 7-speed single clutch. It's not as nice and fast as the dual clutch, but it fits the car's character perfectly. In Sport mode, in my opinion, it takes too long to shift from one gear to another, which makes the ride even less smooth. If you choose Run Mode, you will have the impression that the American football player is attacking you from behind every time you pull the right stick towards you. If I was objective I would call it "unnecessarily violent," but the truth is, I love it.

BEST CURVES

To maintain driving by traffic rules is almost impossible. Not because it's hard to resist the temptation to hide the right pedal - and trust me, it is - but because in first gear you exceed all suburban restrictions, and in second you are traveling at highway speeds.

Better not to tell what is happening on the other programs.

In mixed style, the Aventador is strong, very strong. AND he moves well too, much larger than the width of a football field allows you to imagine... AWD, clunky and lousy when exiting parking lots or at roundabouts, works very well at speed. L 'steering axle it makes the car more agile in all circumstances and the front end sharper, without giving the feeling of a "shopping cart" curving at the rear. This causes most of the torque to be transferred to the rear, so when exiting corners, the car crouches with the rear wheels 355 / 30 R21 and shoots into the next corner. Not even a shadow of understeer.

Then what does rear-wheel drive look like? Not really. The fact is that it has such a grip and such a sharp response to the gas pedal that it is difficult to smoothly turn around a corner. He does not make real traverses, but rather sharp, fast and not very confident drifts. He creates them, but makes it clear that he does not want to do them. This does not mean thatAventador S this is a “shot” car on a straight line. By no means.

The size of the spaceship assumes physical and hard driving, but in reality, when launched on a clear road, the Aventador S he dances with almost unsettling ease, carbon fiber monocoque frame this makes him tough, coherent and extremely reactive. It's like driving a 1300kg car (and it has 1650 when fully loaded), but in the back of a cruise ship. When he sharply enters the curve, IThe back part shakes slightlyjust like a big kart. But it never scares, on the contrary, it is a signal that you are leading him in the right direction. The speed that can be achieved between one turn and the next is shocking.

Fortunately, there is'' landslide plant to the case. Four hundred millimeters in diameter, these are the dimensions of the front carbon-ceramic discs, and the rear ones are “only” 380 mm. At low speeds, they are much less difficult than in the past, while, seriously, the pedal offers exemplary power and modulation.

Steering finally, it is perfectly weighted and bypasses clear and detailed information. In the middle of the curve with your fingertips, you can feel the weight transfer between the front and back with amazing balance. In short, Aventador S she took off her "good car in straight" dress and turned into a neat toy, relatively easy to drive and monstrously fast.

VERDICT

La Lamborghini Aventador S embodies ideally supercar concept: alien in form, with a naturally aspirated engine, so noisy that it is antisocial and capable of working to the point of being ridiculous. The S version is not only faster than the production version, but thanks to the refinement and steering of the rear axle, it is more precise, convincing and attractive. It's built to ride and that is perhaps its best value. You don't need to be a pilot to take it to 90% of your chances; as for the remaining 10%, it's better to go to the track.

Finally we came to a sore spot. It takes approx. 345.000 euro put it in the garage, but the list of options is long and expensive (carbon "packages" are more than anything else in some places) and with a few tweaks it's easy almost 400.000 XNUMX euros. But this the price for a dream car.
