Legendary Cars - Lamborghini Diablo - Auto Sportive

A name that speaks for itself: Diablo, Lamborghini which had a difficult task to replace Countach, Designed by Marcello Gandini, The Lamborghini Diablo was released in 1990 and was produced for 11 years until the Murcielago appeared. For a long time it was one of the fastest cars in the world; already the first Diablo series, produced from 1990 to 1994, reached i 325 km / h and accelerated to 0 km / h in just 100 seconds. This is thanks to a new V12 engine with electronic injection (not carburettors like on the Countach) 5707cc, 492bhp. and 580 Nm of torque.

The first Diablo episode, like the Countach, had only one rear drive and equipment ... scarce. It was equipped as standard with a cassette player (CD player was optional), crank windows, manual seats and was not equipped with ABS. Options included air conditioning, individual seat, rear wing, Breguet watch for $ 11.000 to $ 3000, and a set of suitcases for almost $ XNUMX XNUMX. In the first series, there were not even rear-view mirrors and front air intakes, painted in body color. This car was difficult to drive, insincere and intimidating, but its stage presence was still impressive.

DEVIL VT

La Lamborghini Diablo VT from 1993 (produced until 98) it was developed to meet the needs of an increasing number of customers who needed a more manageable vehicle. In fact, all-wheel drive with viscous coupling was introduced (VT means Viscous thrust), a system capable of transmitting torque to the front wheels up to 25%, but only in case of loss of traction on the rear. Lamborghini technicians have also fitted better performance brakes with four-piston calipers, huge 335mm tires at the rear and 235mm at the front, and electronic dampers with 5 selectable modes.

This made Diablo (slightly) more manageable, but it was clearly not enough to make it docile.

The VT was then revived in 1999, although production only lasted a year. In fact, the second series is a facelift, in the course of which new headlights, a new interior and the power of the 12-liter V5.7 are increased to 530 hp, while the speed of 0-100 km / h drops below 4,0 seconds.

OTHER VERSIONS

Versions Lamborghini Diablo there are so many of them SV (super fast)Produced from 1995 to 1999, and then until 2001 in the second series, it is a rear-wheel drive version with mechanical suspension and an adjustable wing, designed for the track rather than the road. In addition, this model features 'SV' lettering on the side, 18-inch wheels, a new spoiler and redesigned air intakes.

Another Diablo dedicated to geeks is SE 30, special edition... Introduced in 1993, this Diablo was designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Casa di Sant'Agata and is probably also the cleanest Diablo ever made.

Weight has been reduced to the bone in favor of performance: glass has been replaced with plastic, carbon fiber and Alcantara in abundance for the interior and exterior; no air conditioning or radio system. The rear spoiler was replaced with an adjustable spoiler, the brakes were increased and the magnesium wheels were manufactured by Pirelli.

However, the fastest remains there. Lamborghini Diablo GT since 1999 - rear-wheel drive model with a carbon fiber body and an aluminum roof. The GT was produced in only 80 examples: the idea was to develop a prototype for endurance racing (in the GT1 class), but it was never actually raced.

The prepared GT engine produced 575 hp. at 7300 rpm and 630 Nm of torque, which was enough to accelerate it from 0 to 100 km / h in 3,8 seconds to a top speed of 338 km / h.
