Mercedes-Benz wants to be more than an automaker

The German concern Daimler is in the process of a serious reorganization of its activities. This involves changes in several different areas of activity. The details of the plans of the manufacturer from Stuttgart were revealed by the chief designer of Daimler and Mercedes-Benz - Gordon Wagener.

“We are facing a major realignment of our business that includes building closer relationships with other automakers, reimagining the future for Smart, and taking Mercedes-Benz to be more than just a carmaker.”
Wagener said in an interview with Automotive News.

According to the designer, the premium brand has already become a model of style that sets it apart from other automotive companies. Wagener and his team are challenged not only to create new models, but also to create a new style that evokes emotions in people. This is not only related to cars, but also to the entire environment.

“We have already taken the first steps in this direction, and Mercedes-Benz is included in the list of the most influential companies in the world. Now we have a goal - to turn Mercedes into the most popular and sought-after luxury brand in 10 years. For this to happen, we need to go beyond the production of standard vehicles,”
the designer said.

On the automotive front, Wagener noted that Mercedes' electric concept cars are as close as possible to their production variants. An example of this is the models from the Vision series, and 90% of these will be production vehicles in the EQ family.
