Thanks to Mercedes Poland, we had the pleasure of testing the Mercedes EQC 400 4Matic for several days. Impressions? Convenience, comfort, silence, quality, speed, dynamics. During these few days, I jumped at any excuse to get out of the house and drive. And still. And still.

This text contains a record of emotions, first impressions from several days of using the car. This can be considered a short test of the Mercedes EQC 400 4Matic, but a test made with heart, without undue objectivity. There will be a cool time to watch.

Mercedes EQC is like a winter trip to warm countries

There are cars that are difficult to test. For example, the Dacia Spring Electric is difficult to test because it was important to cut costs in order to get the vehicle to market as cheaply as possible. Be careful not to talk about hard plastics. There are also cars in which testing is like tasting a fresh apple pie, taking a sip of freshly made velvety coffee, or walking barefoot on a fluffy carpet. Pleasure. Mercedes EQC belongs to the latter group for many reasons, although ... more on that at the end.

Mercedes EQC 400 4Matic is currently the most powerful electric crossover from the German manufacturer. In the base variant, it starts at PLN 300, but the version we saw was 40% more expensive (PLN 419). And she probably had everything we could wish for. Comfortable leather seats, perfectly soundproof interior, acceleration to 448 km / h in 100 seconds, 4,9 kWh battery, air ventilation system. Getting behind the wheel is like a sudden social promotion for the CEO. For example, the president of Elektrovoz.

Before we sit behind the wheel, we are in visual contact with the car. They are round, quiet, some even say they are boring. There is something in this, of the mentioned competitors, the EQC is the least expressive model. - although it was exactly what it could have been. Fortunately, both front and back we find LED strip between the lights, which gives the silhouette a modern look. Attracts attention. I guarantee you will spot him on the street.

Inside we have a premium Mercedes - a lot, sometimes too much content - and engines that respond quickly to the accelerator pedal. Press and slowly move forward. According to the manufacturer's statement, we reach 100 km / h in 4,9 seconds. Compared to the Tesla Model 3 Performance or Model S Plaid, this number may seem weak, but it's not. Even if it's not a blow between the eyes.

Driving is comfortable, the soundproofing of the cabin guarantees peace of mind and guarantees a conversation without raising your voice. Mercedes EQC 400 4Matic is ideal for travel. It would be if (A) had a more efficient drive OR (B) a larger battery, and in Poland (C) chargers would work with at least 100 kW. A and C or B and C - if these conditions are not met, long-distance trips will not be comfortable.

"Almost" and "but"

Our test took place in difficult conditions a few months ago. It was one of those warm days when it suddenly got colder and snow began to fall. The test route led from Warsaw to Lublin (city-high-speed city) and back, more or less. 190 kilometers one way... A very unpleasant feeling when it turned out that 64 percent of the battery may not even be enough to get “there”... We write "smog", because we chose not to take risks and stopped along the way for a quick charge. And so we did it with a few percent of the battery.

Charging at a 40 kW station - routine work

к It hurts when the battery is 93 percent charged, promises 257 kilometers... In the summer it will be 300-320. Yes, we had difficult conditions, plus we were driving on the expressway, but in winter and summer you go by car. In the city and on the highways. And with the EQC, energy is being used up faster than you might expect.

Going to rest at the charging station? To go down. You will grab your head when it is running at 50 or worse, 40 kW. How do you restore the real range of 200 kilometers in one hour, you can talk about success - which is hard to blame Mercedes. In the summer it will be a little better, which our Reader confirmed.

During such stops, I always promised myself that "next time I will drive more carefully, lower than the established ones." Unfortunately, I did not keep my word. This car is too comfortable to ride, it can be the perfect companion on long journeys. Could ...

But the city and its surroundings were great.
