Mercedes EQC 400: real range of more than 400 kilometers, lagging behind Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-tron [video]

Youtuber Bjorn Nyland tested the Mercedes EQC 400 "1886". It turned out that a fully charged 80 kWh battery (useful capacity) allows you to travel up to 417 kilometers without recharging while driving quietly, which is a very good result in this segment today.

It quickly became clear that Switching the vehicle to D + drive mode can help increase the range.... It turns off the energy recovery mechanism during the descent, so the 2,5 ton car picks up speed and a lot of kinetic energy. Engines Mercedes EQC are inductive, contain electromagnets, therefore, in this "idle" mode of movement, they practically do not show resistance.

Drive mode D + allows regenerative braking to be deactivated, that is, "put in neutral". This allows the vehicle to pick up speed (and energy) on hills and cover long distances without recharging. As a rule, the test took place in good weather (the temperature was a few degrees Celsius), but there were episodes of rain, which is a condition that reduces the final result. However, the Mercedes EQC covered 400 kilometers with an average consumption of 19,2 kWh / 100 km (192 Wh / km) and an average speed of 86 km / h - and still has a range of 19 kilometers / 4 percent battery capacity. . This means that if you drive slowly and the battery is completely discharged Mercedes EQC 400 line "1886" will be about 417 kilometers.

This is much better than the Jaguar I-Pace (actual range: 377 kilometers), not to mention the Audi e-tron (actual range: 328 kilometers) - for the sake of accuracy, we will add that we are comparing the value obtained by Bjorn. Nyland with official EPA measurements. The latter are not yet available for EQC and we expect them to be lower than what youtuber managed to get.

However, it is undeniable that in its segment (D-SUV) the car has no equal in terms of flight range without recharging. The car will have to recognize the superiority of Tesla only after replenishing the collection with cars from segment D. The Tesla Model 3 (segment D) runs about 500 kilometers on a battery with a usable capacity of 74 kWh. However, Tesla and Mercedes are completely different interior or design philosophies.
