Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG T

Actually, no. However, some of you will roll your eyes at this. This portable AMG C-class product (whether limousine or station wagon) has a capacity of 386 kilowatts (which is 457 "horsepower" according to locals). But in the E-Class, he can handle more than 514 horses. And 11 more in the CL Coupe.

And then, ungrateful for what is available to us, we ask ourselves: why can't C have so many of them? And right after that: you can "drink". But perhaps at AMG, if you take a close look at them (and they take a close look at the driver's wallet), they'll reach for the laptop and download new data to the engine computer in a few minutes, like the more powerful versions. this engine. May be. ...

Such a C 63 AMG T will, of course, cost just under five thousand for the AMG Performance package (which includes a lower, stiffer, more racing chassis, 40% mechanical differential lock, six-piston composite brake discs). front calipers and a sports steering wheel) are essentially the very best you can ask for if you buy a racing limousine van of this size. But the test AMG did not have all of this. ...

And yet: the power is more than enough. Enough that almost no one can handle you on the highway, enough to easily turn the rear wheels into smoke, enough to make full-throttle acceleration spectacular in an instant. Not only because of the jerk in the back, but also because of the accompanying roar.

A huge engine, a four-pipe, uncivilized exhaust, and a fully slammed accelerator is a combination that is first served with a raucous drum, then with a sharp roar, and finally, when you release the accelerator, with several loud pops worthy of the best racing cars. All you have to do is fully depress the accelerator pedal (on a fairly long and tangible stretch of road with no restrictions). The electronics will take care of the rest. ESP prevents wheel spin at idle, and the seven-speed automatic shifts quickly and decisively (and with well-adjusted intermediate throttle when it comes to downshifting).

Of course, this is different. If the road is winding and the driver is in a sporty mood, he can press the ESP off button. Short press - and ESP-SPORT is displayed on the central information display between the counters. This means that operating limits have been increased so much that it is possible to drive fast, yet completely safe. What slip front and rear, if gently, electronics allow, everything else is eliminated by the rapid intervention of engine electronics and brakes.

Or take the trail as we turned onto Raceland near Krško. It turns out that this AMG is very interesting for those who like to drive on it.

For more fun, you will need a special drift. Sliding angles can be huge, but they are easy to control, power (and smoke from under the wheels) does not dry out, only the ESP can seduce. ... True, you can turn it off by pressing and holding the button, but only as long as you press the accelerator pedal. That's when it passes, in a cloud of smoke, and the electronics don't complain. But the moment your foot touches the brake pedal (say, when going from corner to corner), ESP temporarily wakes up and tries to stabilize the car.

History Lesson: The C 63 AMG T is a drift car at full throttle, so do it and forget about the brakes. There is no diff-lock (unless, as mentioned, you pay extra for it), but its electronic brake-assisted simulation works so well that it leads the average driver to believe they are driving a car with a real mechanical lock. .

With timely driving, the car proved to be much slower than its big competitor, the BMW M3. It's about as fast as the M5 Touring. And the lines he can draw are not as precise as those of faster rivals. And the ass slips before. Yes, the C 63 AMG T is a projectile. Not the most accurate, with some sharpness of mind, but much more fun. Paying for the AMG Performance package will greatly reduce the difference to the M3, but at the same time, the car will lose much of its day-to-day usability that sets it apart from (say) the M3.

This AMG can be used like a perfectly normal family car (the shell seats that hold the body in turns are extremely comfortable, and the car is quite spacious and useful enough), you drive it for everyday tasks, and you will not even notice that the monster is hiding under the sheet metal. And then every now and then you stretch your right leg, just to smile. ...

evaluation

  • If you want a semi-car that can be used every day (and if you can afford at least 15 litres), this AMG is a great choice. You can make it even more racing with extra features, but in that case it will be more than enough for most owners...
