Methods for increasing engine power
Most owners of VAZ cars are not averse to increasing the power of their car, since initially the characteristics leave much to be desired. And this applies not only to “classic” models, but also to front-wheel drive versions, such as Kalina, Priora or Grant. But not every owner can know what minimum costs can achieve a certain increase in the power of the VAZ engine.
On one of the sites on front-wheel drive cars VAZ, specialist Evgeny Travnikov, who is widely known on YouTube with his channel “Theory of ICE”, and he can rightly be considered an expert in his field. So, the site participants asked questions about an elementary increase in power, to which Evgeny gave several answers:
- The first point on which the specialist draws attention is the installation of an adjustable camshaft star. According to him, such a modification will allow you to more accurately set the ignition and, of course, the response of the engine to the gas pedal will be sharply reduced, which will entail an increase in power. This is especially true for 16-valve internal combustion engines, such as 21124 (VAZ 2112), 21126 (Priora) and 21127 (New Kalina 2)
- The second point is a competent and professional chip tuning, more precisely, the correct setting of the controller. I think it's not worth going into the details of a regular ECU, but many people know that both power and fuel consumption at factory settings are far from ideal. This is primarily due to the fact that manufacturers are striving to improve environmental friendliness and reduce emissions of harmful substances into the environment. If we score a little on all these norms, then we will get a tangible increase in horsepower (from 5 to 10%), and moreover, fuel consumption will even decrease.
- And the third point is the installation of the exhaust system to a more competent one from a technical point of view. According to Evgeny Travnikov, an expert at Theory of ICE, it is necessary to install a 4-2-1 layout spider and make a release with two strongers. As a result, we should get a noticeable increase in engine power in the exhaust.
Of course, if you decide to do a little tuning of your car's engine, then first of all you should start with the mechanical part of the internal combustion engine, that is, with the timing system and the exhaust system. And only after carrying out the necessary work, it will be possible to start chip tuning the ECU.
