7-seater minivans are very popular in Europe, the USA, Southeast Asia and here in Russia. The choice is quite wide, each manufacturer has several models in its lineup, which we have already talked about on our website Vodi.su, describing the minivans of Toyota, Volkswagen, Nissan and other automobile companies.

In this article, we will look at the popular 7-seater minivans for 2015.

Citroen C8

The Citroen C8 is the passenger version of the Citroen Jumpy cargo van. This model can be designed for 5, 7 or 8 seats. Produced since 2002, in 2008 and 2012 it underwent minor updates. Built on the basis of the Citroen Evasion. In principle, the following models are built on the same platform and differ, perhaps, in names:

• Let Ulysses
• Peugeot 807;
• Lancia Phedra, Lancia Zeta.

That is, these are the products of the Peugeot-Citroen group in close cooperation with the Italian Fiat.

After the last update in 2012, the Citroen C8 pleases with an extended wheelbase, so that passengers in the rear 3rd row can feel quite comfortable. If desired, 2 separate chairs or one solid sofa for 3 passengers can be placed in the back row, increasing the capacity to eight people - the boarding formula is 2 + 3 + 3.

Over the years of production, the minivan was equipped with several types of engines, both gasoline and diesel. The most powerful three-liter gasoline engine is capable of squeezing out 210 horsepower. The 2.2 HDi diesel will easily produce 173 hp. As a transmission, you can order a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

In Russia, it is not currently represented by official dealers, but there is another option that also fits into the category of 7-seater family minivans. This is a recent innovation - Citroen Jumpy Multispace.

Jumpy Multispace is offered with two types of turbo diesel:

• 1.6-liter 90-horsepower unit, which comes exclusively with manual transmission;
• 2.0-liter 163-horsepower engine, paired with a 6-band automatic.

The maximum capacity of this minivan is 9 people, but the possibilities for transforming the interior are very diverse, so that it can be easily adjusted to your needs.

Among other things, the car is quite economical - a less powerful engine consumes 6,5 liters on the highway and 8,6 in the city. The 2.0-liter unit requires 9,8 liters in the city and 6,8 on the highway.

Presented in three trim levels:

• Dynamique (1.6 l. 6MKPP) - 1,37 million rubles;
• Dynamique (2.0 l. 6MKPP) - 1,52 million;
• Tendance (2.0 l. 6MKPP) - 1,57 million rubles.

A good choice for a large family.

Well, since we have already touched on Citroen, it is impossible to mention another popular model - the updated Citroen C4 Picasso.

Today it is presented in the salons of official dealers and boasts everything you need:

• steering wheel adjustment in all planes;
• driver assistance systems - cruise control, keeping the car from rolling on a slope, brake force distribution, ABS, EBD and so on;
• high level of active and passive safety;
• comfortable seats with a lot of adjustments in all three rows.

This updated 7-seater minivan has good technical characteristics:

• 1.5-liter turbo diesel with 115 hp;
• 1.6 liter gasoline engine with 120 hp

Diesel in the combined cycle consumes only 4 liters of diesel fuel - 3,8 outside the city and 4,5 in the city. The petrol version is less economical - 8,6 in the urban cycle and 5 on the highway.

Prices are not the lowest - 1,3-1,45 million rubles, depending on the configuration.

Dacia Lodgy

Dacia Lodgy is a development of engineers and designers of a well-known Romanian company, built on the platform they created. Unfortunately, in Russia this 7-seat compact van can only be bought on the secondary market or ordered at European auctions, which we wrote about on our website Vodi.su.

Compact van is designed for 5 or 7 people. It is front wheel drive. As power units used:

• 1.5-liter diesels;
• 1.6-liter gasoline engine;
• 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine.

The transmission can be 5 or 6 speed manual. The car was warmly received in Europe and according to the results of 2013, it entered the TOP-10 best-selling middle-class minivans. But most likely its popularity was caused by a relatively low price - from 11 thousand euros. Accordingly, most of all it is bought in the countries of Eastern Europe - Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece.

This model is also presented in Ukraine, only under the Renault Lodgy brand. Prices - from 335 to 375 thousand hryvnia, or about 800-900 thousand rubles.

As for a budget car, Lodgy pleases with a high level of comfort. But this cannot be said about safety - only 3 stars out of five according to the results of Euro NCAP crash tests.

Fiat Freemont

Fiat Freemont is a minivan currently available in Moscow's official showrooms. I must say that this is the development of the American concern Chrysler - Dodge Journey. But as you know, the Italians subjugated this corporation for themselves and now this 7-seater all-terrain wagon in Europe is sold under the Fiat brand.

You can buy it in one single configuration - Urban, at a price of one and a half million rubles.

Specifications are as follows:

• engine size - 2360 cm170, power XNUMX horsepower;
• front-wheel drive, automatic transmission 6 ranges;
• capacity - 5 or 7 people, including the driver;
• maximum speed - 182 km / h, acceleration to hundreds - 13,5 seconds;
• consumption - 9,6 liters of AI-95.

In a word, the car does not shine with dynamic characteristics, but this can be understood, because its curb weight is almost 2,5 tons.

The car features a stylish dashboard, comfortable seats, three-zone climate control. Plus, there are the necessary assistants, security systems, the possibility of transforming the cabin at your discretion.

Mazda 5

In order not to devote the entire article to European cars, let's move on to Japan, where the Mazda 5 compact MPV, formerly known as the Mazda Premacy, is still produced.

Initially, it came in a 5-seat version, but in updated versions it became possible to put a third row of seats. True, it is not very convenient and only children can sit there. Nevertheless, the car has good characteristics - a 146 hp gasoline naturally aspirated engine. Well, plus the recognizable exterior and interior of Mazda, which cannot be confused with anything.

In the secondary market, a car costs from 350 thousand (2005) to 800 thousand (2011). New cars are not delivered to the showrooms of official dealers.
