A Porsche Taycan 4S range with a larger battery and special tires? 579 km at 90 km / h and 425 km at 120 km / h

Bjorn Nyland tested the range of the Porsche Taycan 4S with a battery increased to 84 (93) kWh, that is, with a Performance Plus battery (+ 28,3 thousand PLN in Poland). It turned out that in fine weather the car is capable of driving up to 425 kilometers while driving on the highway at a speed of 120 km / h.

Another Porsche Taycan test and another result, significantly better than the EPA

In range tests carried out in accordance with the procedure of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Porsche Taycan 4S performed very poorly - it covered only 327 kilometers. Today, we already know that Porsche itself decided to lower the car's valuation, possibly hitting Dieselgate. Or undermine the credibility of the EPA results, in which Tesla is a genius [conspiracy theory :)].

The Taycan 4S tested by Nyland did not only have a larger battery. Other rims and narrower Hankook Ventus S1 Evo tires are also used.3 EVs (225 / 55R19 at the front, 275 / 45R19 at the rear) that have been specially developed for this car model.

When charged to 99 percent, the car reported a range of 452 kilometers. It is worth noting that even then the car was fueled with energy with a capacity of about 12 kW.

Average energy consumption at 90 km / h (odometer 91 km / h) was 15 kWh / 100 km (150 Wh/km). The Tesla Model S “Raven” used about 14,4 kWh/100 km (144 Wh/km) over the same distance, so the Taycan was only slightly less efficient. Electric Porsche will be able to surpass 579 km per chargeand his battery, as it turned out, was able to return as much as 86,9 kWh of energy.

In the best of the best rating, Nyland still beats the Tesla Model S "Raven", which can cover 644 kilometers on battery, but other cars are weaker.

At a real speed of 120 km / h the car was slightly less economical and required 20,3 kWh / 100 km (203 Wh / km; 20,5 kWh / 100 km on the meter). Nyland's calculations show that when the battery is discharged to zero The Taycan 4S will cover 425 kilometers, that is, more than the Tesla Model 3 Performance or Xpeng P7 Performance. The electric Porsche will once again lose only to the Tesla Model S “Raven”, which has to travel up to 473 kilometers on a single charge.
