Gearboxes of the new generation are 6-speed and 9-speed gearboxes manufactured by the Yaroslavl Motor Plant JSC "Avtodiesel". The main design features include:

The need to care for the checkpoint

Contributes to the extension of the resource of the speed box: its timely maintenance. In particular, the owner of the car must monitor the serviceability of the gears, the control lever, monitor the level of oil poured into the MAZ car system.

If it is necessary to repair the gearbox at MAZ, it is necessary to dismantle the gearbox from its usual place. The device must be visually inspected for external deformations. This, most likely, is the reason that the checkpoint "does not obey" the driver's commands. If there are no deformations, you can proceed to the analysis of the gearbox components.

When the MAZ gearbox chain fails, the following symptoms appear:

  • some gears do not work, for example, 4 and 5;
  • manual switching is difficult.

Flushing the gearbox requires approximately 3 liters of special oil. Repair of a MAZ gearbox can consist in restoring bridges, washing, and detecting gearbox breakdowns. The crankcase and cover are also subject to repair.

A shaft with a pair of roller bearings and a reverse gear is installed on the side between the intermediate and output shaft. The front gear element is complemented by an analogue of the first gear using an additional shaft, and the reverse gear is engaged by engaging the reverse gear.

On the MAZ semi-trailer, the front part of the secondary shaft is mounted on a roller bearing, and the rear element is mounted in a ball bearing bath. And lead you into such a jungle of fabrications that it’s time to call “03”, although there are serious doubts that the visiting specialists will be able to help in any way, unless, of course, one of them has the idea of ​​the Minsk Automobile Plant in the garage. Although even then there is no guarantee that you will encounter the owner of exactly the type of checkpoint that caused you to find yourself in such a deplorable state. And in order to avoid getting into such situations, you need to know “whose hoo”, that is, for which MAZ models, which gearboxes are normal. Let's say you are interested in or even own one of the following models: 5551, 5337, 53371, 54331, 5431. In that case, congratulations! The fact is that these cars are equipped with a YaMZ 236R gearbox as standard, which means the MAZ gear shift scheme of this type is described very simply - five-speed.

It’s a different matter when it comes to MAZ models 64229 and 54323, which have a YaMZ gearbox installed, albeit a 238A one, and such a gearbox is a hybrid of a conventional four-speed gearbox with a two-stage multiplier. In fact, this combination makes the transmission an eight-speed one, where in the lower range of the multiplier gears from first to fourth plus reverse gear operate, and when the multiplier is shifted to the higher range, gears from fifth to eighth “appear”. It is worth highlighting Minsk-made cars in a separate category, but with imported gearboxes that were converted to use domestic engines. In most cases, with such a modification, two types of gearboxes are used, and as a result, the MAZ gearshift pattern corresponds to a 9-speed ZF Ecomid 9S1310 or a 16-speed ZF 16S1650. The use of such boxes provides owners with some advantages. And at the same time, it imposes some obligations on them: the rules for caring for such a junction box must be strictly observed. Although it is worth noting that improper maintenance and operation of our “two-wire” gearboxes is also mandatory, even if these standards are not observed.

 

MAZ gear shift scheme

The MAZ gearshift scheme depends on the type of gearbox installed on various models of MAZ vehicles. If you have MAZ 64229, MAZ 54323 cars, then they have a YaMZ 238A gearbox installed. It is a combination of 4 speed gearbox and XNUMX speed gearbox. That is, in fact, this gearbox is eight-speed.

The gearshift scheme for the models MAZ MA3 555I, MA3 53371, MAZ 5337, MAZ 5433, MA3 54331 is different. After all, the YaMZ 236R gearbox installed on these machines is five-speed. Among other things, some MAZ models are equipped with imported gearboxes, which are adapted to the engines installed on MAZs. An example is ZF 16S-1650 with 16 steps, ZF "Ecomid" 9S 1310 with 9 steps. These boxes are distinguished by the highest quality of workmanship, great reliability, but at the same time, high-quality service.

These different gearboxes, depending on the modification of the car, are made for a reason. This makes it easier to drive, improves economy and extends the life of the engine and transmission mechanisms.

In order for the gearbox to work for a long time, it is not enough to follow the MAZ gear shift scheme. It also needs proper care. Perform all necessary maintenance work in a timely manner to keep the transmission in good condition. The oil must be changed according to the instructions. Drain while warm through both holes in the pan. Spindle oil should be used to flush the MAZ gearbox. After that, we start the engine and “drive” it for 10 minutes. After that, we drain the shaft and fill in a new one according to the map. It is strictly forbidden to flush the gearbox with kerosene or diesel fuel if we do not want the oil pump to break.
