Motorcycle ride

Motorcycles are always the promise of long journeys on the roads of France and Europe. To ride, you need a reliable motorcycle that can handle rider, passenger and luggage without worries. Not all motorcycles are created equal, given the long roads and keel roadsters, road trails and FTs are much better than sports cars, and especially in duos.

Based on your destination and bike, plan the time you need, including breaks and rest. It is possible to travel 500 kilometers a day, but when it follows for several days, the average eventually declines. The aim is also to enjoy the landscapes and the intersecting places. Therefore, you need to plan 500 kilometers on the first day, 400, possibly the second, and then a maximum of 200-300 kilometers per day, otherwise your trip will become very / too tiring.

Prepare

As with any trip, there are a few rules to follow:

  • Frame Usage Checks: Condition (does not need to be replaced while riding) and tire pressures (2,3 front and 2,5 rear - good average values ​​on the road, especially not inflated), oil level, front and rear brakes (plates and brake liquid), lighting (drives, 1 spare headlight and turn signal lamp), oil change, if possible ...
  • lubricate the chain (change it earlier if it is already over),
  • a piercing bomb and / or a repair kit (more expensive, but better),
  • spare cables in the housing (brake, clutch, accelerator),
  • hand-woven fabric,
  • small change for coffee / tea and any road fees,
  • road map (route preparation and possible stages) or GPS

    so as not to get lost 😉
  • earplugs (for long trips),
  • and optional: lumbar back strap

Pilot and passenger

It is often hot, but this is not a reason not to have the necessary equipment, and in particular: gloves, boots, leather, helmet.

I insist on the usefulness of protecting the ears with earplugs; High noise levels for a long time can best cause buzzing in the ear at the end of the day, in the worst case, irreparable damage to the inner ear. In any case, this is an important source of additional fatigue.

Ideal for several or at least two; in case of failure, at least we help each other. We drive not in one file, but in a checkerboard pattern and no more than five at a time.

Otherwise, it is advisable during the stop to go with the meetings of the last bar ... uh, gas station (let's stay sober).

Remember to drink regularly during your trip (water or soft drink) because you will dehydrate quickly; desigation is a source of fatigue and the possibility of accidents when it is easy to drink on a regular basis.

During the ride, you must especially keep the frame, the motorcycle, and also the back.
