Motorcycles for the elderly

Young retirees or retirees who lack the thrill. Motorcycles have been your passion for years, but life has left them in the garage for too long. So, you want to sit back in the saddle or just sit back in order to restore that feeling of freedom. Let's figure out together what precautions you need to take and what type of motorcycle is right for you.

The consequences of age

Yes, everything changes with age. Vision, hearing and reflexes decrease, and this is completely normal.

Before heading back on the road, it may be best to have a little check-up. Vision near and far, perception of sounds, reactivity of reflexes ... All this must be taken into account.

Transfer or re-transfer your motorcycle license

If you want to get a motorcycle license, you will first get an A2 license. For 2 years, you will have to ride a motorcycle with a maximum power of 35 kW. After these 2 years and then 7 hours of training, you will finally get your A license.

If, on the other hand, you have a motorcycle license but have not driven for many years, you will need to take a refresher course. This motorcycle school course will allow you to rethink your driving rules, master the car and, above all, do exercises to control your reflexes.

Which motorcycle to choose for an elderly person?

This is not to say that this or that motorcycle is created for you. The only thing to consider when choosing a motorcycle is your desires, budget and especially physical abilities.

You will need to be able to control the weight of your bike, whether custom or road. If you're looking for the thrill of driving a sports car, make sure you have the right reflexes. As for the track, it can be a good compromise between off-road and road. You can also start with a small working volume and then move up to a higher level as you gain confidence.

Which biker gear to choose?

You just found your rotting foam motorcycle helmet in the back of the garage. The leather jacket is cracking and the motorcycle boots have absorbed moisture. Don't insist, it's time to change your biker gear.

Helmet and gloves are mandatory and must be CE approved. It is also recommended to wear a jacket, trousers and motorcycle shoes. They also need to be CE certified as PPE.
