For several years now, category B car drivers have been able to ride motorcycles. Since then, the two-wheeler segment up to 125 cm³ has seen a real surge in the market, but also a visible increase in prices. Category B motorcycles are not boring and are a pleasure to ride despite modest power. Here are some models to look out for if you're looking for a car that you can drive with a car license. What category B motor can you buy? What is the capacity of a category B motorcycle?
In order to be able to drive a car, you must meet certain driving license requirements. A driver with category B can drive a motorcycle if he has a driving experience of at least 3 years. And what engine size in category B is acceptable? This is the maximum level up to 125 cm³. Power is limited to 11 kW, which gives less than 15 hp. In addition, the specific power of such a design should not exceed 0,1 kW/kg. Thus, category B motorcycles do not have much power and do not provide lightning-fast acceleration. However, many of them make it possible to accelerate to 110-120 km / h, and this is almost highway speed.
Which category B motorcycle to choose?
In principle, you can choose any type of motorcycle, which is also available in larger variants. And so, for example, you can get yourself:

- pursuer.
The choice is huge, so without too much prolongation, let's move on to specific models to show which ones deserve special attention.
Category B motorcycles - price range
Motor category B is a broad category, so the prices here are quite diverse. The cheapest models usually do not exceed 5-6 thousand, you may be able to find cheaper models. You can buy category B motorcycles in the secondary market, but in this text we will not focus on them. If you are aiming for a new two-wheeler up to 125 cm³ of the best brands, be prepared to spend at least PLN 10 (this price includes a helmet and full gear).
Motor category B - overview of models
Piaggio Medley 125
The Piaggio scooter, available in 3 variants, is one of the most interesting proposals among this group of two-wheelers. It is equipped with a 4-valve single-cylinder engine with 11 kW and 12 Nm of torque. It provides tangible acceleration and dynamic city driving. The Start-Stop function allows you to stop the installation 1-5 seconds after stopping. The tank capacity is 7 liters, which allows you to drive more than 250 kilometers on one gas station. The price for these category B motorcycles, depending on the version, ranges from 14 to 900 euros.
Honda Forza 125
This is one of the most interesting types among new scooters up to 125cc. It has very good equipment. There is an HSTC torque control system, a CVT gearbox and a 12V USB C socket. This category B motorcycle is of course equipped with the most powerful single-cylinder engine in its class with 12,2 Nm of torque. The tank capacity is 11,5 liters, which, with a fuel consumption of 2,3 l / 100 km, gives a theoretical range of 500 kilometers! Thus, the possibilities of traveling along the route without refueling are significant. But so is the price, since it is around 22 euros.
Honda PCX 125
It's time for another model from the same manufacturer. The Honda PCX 125 may not be as fast a scooter as its predecessor, but you will get it for a much lower price. These Japanese category B bikes cost about 14 euros. Therefore, they are much cheaper than the previously described model. The 125 cm³ engine has a power of 12,5 horsepower. Torque remains at 11,8 Nm. The parameters do not knock you off your feet, but in practice they are expressed in very high reliability and durability. This is a very good offer for people who want to have an economical and relatively inexpensive scooter for getting around the city.
Hero M12 Vintage 125
We pass to the category of more thoroughbred cars. Category B motorcycles are not only scooters, but also choppers, such as the Junak M12. We immediately warn you that it will not gurgle like a two-cylinder, because it has only one piston. With a volume of 125 cm³, it reaches a minimum power of more than 10 hp. and accelerates to 90 km / h. These are not dizzying values and not overly small. This bike is just for calm (if not slow) off-road riding. The price of a motorcycle for such a trip fluctuates around 10 euros.
Romet ZK 125 FX
We remain with the same maximum capacity, but we are changing the category drastically. Romet is no longer the same product as it used to be, because under the familiar sounding name hides a Chinese design. Who said category B bikes have to be expensive? This one costs PLN 4999, and the combustion itself will not empty your wallet either. The Romet ZK 125 FX has a 125 cm³ single-cylinder engine with 10,6 hp. The torque it creates is 8,9 Nm. A thirteen-liter tank with a fuel consumption of 2,6-3 liters / 100 km is enough for a very pleasant trip.
Honda CBR 125R
A motorcycle with the CBR marking needs no introduction to any motorcycle enthusiast. Released in 2018, the CBR 125R has been modified to further enhance its appeal. The engine is single-cylinder, two-valve, 2 hp. and a torque of 13,3 Nm. In combination with a 10-speed gearbox, the motorcyclist is able to accelerate to 6 km / h in less than 100 seconds. The purchase price of this model is about 11,5 euros.
KTM RC 125
Want to take the first step towards building more powerful machines? The KTM RC 125 could be a great B-bike for you if you want to ride a sports car in the future. Although KTM is mostly associated with off-road, it also feels very good among street machines. The RC 125 has a 15 hp single cylinder engine. and a torque of 12 Nm. Its price fluctuates around 19 euros for a new copy.
Yamaha MT 125
This is the last on the list and an extremely interesting B-category motorcycle. Naked, for people who don't want to license out to bigger machines, delivers a very solid performance and driving experience. Its engine, of course, produces 15 hp. and 12,4 Nm of torque. Despite such power, fuel consumption is diametrically low, because the manufacturer claims a level of 2,1 l / 100 km. Unfortunately, many naked enthusiasts may be put off by the price of this model. It is at least PLN 22 XNUMX.
Should I buy category B motorcycles? It is clear that dizzying speeds from such small machines are not to be expected. For some, however, a 125cc motorcycle is the ideal solution. Performance is sufficient, and moving does not require additional permissions. Is it reasonable to buy a motorcycle with such parameters for 10-15 thousand, we leave it to your discretion.
