MotorTrend conducted the first independent tests in which it investigated the acceleration of the Tesla Model S Plaid. The car has been confirmed to accelerate to 97 km / h (60 mph) in 1,98 seconds. By the way, it was also revealed that Tesla slightly reduced the battery, but increased the efficiency of the car.

The battery capacity of the latest version of the car has become such forbidden information. MotorTrend showed that Tesla S Plaid batteries have a total capacity of 100 kWh.while previously it was 102-103 kWh (MotorTrend says 104 kWh in the S Performance model):

However, she did not boast that the car's top speed is currently limited to 262 km / h and that a software update would be required to accelerate to higher speeds. And in order to exceed 300 km / h, you will also need to change tires.
Tesla Acceleration
Let's move on to the measurements of the MotorTrend portal. The car was transferred to a new mode DragStripwhich prepares the Model S Plaid for straight line acceleration records. It cools or heats the battery and cools the motors, which can take 8 to 15 minutes. The next step is to activate the start mode, in which you must simultaneously press the brake and accelerator pedal to the floor. It will turn on Cheetah ratio (cheetah stance), i.e. lowering the front of the machine.

In MotorTrend Measurements Tesla Model S Plaid accelerated to 60 km / h in 97 seconds.. 0,01 seconds shorter than Tesla promises (1,99 seconds). He also ran the 1/4 mile in 9,25 seconds. There were many ups, the differences are small - the car does not seem to overheat... All measurements were performed on a lane coated with a VHT viscous adhesion promoter.
Measurement of acceleration without “sticking” and from a standstill
On the track without VHT, the Tesla Model S Plaid accelerated to 97 km / h in 2,07 seconds.. On the same track, Tesla Model S performance in Ludicrous+ mode dropped to 2,28 seconds, so the Plaid version was 0,21 seconds faster. All of these numbers subtract the first about 30 centimeters of rolling (called a one-foot rollback) because that's how acceleration measurements are made in the US. No deduction when pulling away (0-60 mph) acceleration to 97 km / h took 2,28 seconds.
The Tesla Model S Plaid causes higher g-forces when starting than when braking.... The maximum measured acceleration value was 1,227 g at 51,5 km / h. Under braking, the best result was 1,221 g. This is a significant achievement: the tires not only reached the grip limit, but the rather complex engine electronics obviously worked faster than the relatively simple ones. (and therefore fast) anti-lock braking systems.
The 2,07 second result is important for another reason. The Carwow journalist, who was invited to test Rimaki Unveri, showed a result of 2,08 seconds. In both cases, V-blocks were used, so it can be assumed that the measurement procedure was identical. It means that The Tesla Model S Plaid is currently 0,01 seconds faster than the Nevera.... Ultimately, however, the Croatian producer would like to reduce the time to 1,85 seconds.
