MTA - manual transmission automatic

It is a 5- or 6-speed electric transmission (also robotized) developed by the Fiat group.

Consisting of a conventional three-shaft gearbox with appropriate clutch and electric drives controlled by the control unit, it can change its behavior depending on actual requirements such as the driver's driving style and the type of route.

Depending on the model, the system may include a classic tunnel lever or paddle shifters on the steering wheel, as well as a system designed to prevent driver errors (such as improper gear shifting, neutral or reverse gear when not provided). ... It has been rejected in various versions depending on the models it is installed on, among which we remember the very sporty model adopted by the Alfa Romeo 8C.
