My Boo My Volta Crank Electric Bamboo Electric Bike

The German company My Boo, which has specialized in the development of bamboo bikes since 2014, is preparing to launch My Volta in Europe, the first electric model with a crank engine.

The social aspect A special feature of the My Boo project: All bamboo frames are produced in the small village of Mapong in central Ghana. Local production that creates jobs and profits that are directly reinvested in solidarity projects related to education and microloans.  

Shimano Steps motor

My Volta is the first bamboo e-bike with an integrated crank motor and is powered by a Shimano Steps E-6000 system linked to a 418 Wh battery mounted under the trunk. As for the bike, the manufacturer hasn't released many details just yet, just announcing the use of an 8-speed Nexus derailleur built into the rear hub and a suspension fork.

Launched in spring 2017

The My Boo My Volta electric bike is expected to be unveiled in a few days on Eurobike in the spring of 2017 and will sell for a modest € 3799.
