It has been half a century since Ducati designer Miguel Galluzzi drew the first disassembled sketch of the first motorcycle, ushering in a new era. The new Monster 797 is beautiful, lightweight and ergonomic, painted on the skin with the broadest motto of the population. Fashion bikes are now being made for her and him, for the experienced and the less experienced, for the speed and relaxation lovers, and at the same time, versions will soon be available that allow you to ride with the A2 category exam. That this is actually a versatile motorcycle is confirmed by the fact that it has been tested by the above signed complete factory in the company of racing legends and experienced motorcycle journalists.

The new Ducati Monster 797 is a synthesis of all living things: it is monstrously friendly, submissive and complex. The only thing Ducati hasn't been looking for very moderate compromises anyway is sound, otherwise the new Monster 797 is the perfect blend of its older siblings from the Scrambler family. If you can't decide between the two because you're looking for a bike for year-round, city, and weekend riding, but prefer a model with the famous grille, the latest Monster is nothing short of the perfect choice. The only thing you can't afford is longer love affairs for two, because your companion will leave you somewhere halfway to Dubrovnik and hitchhike back home. The monster was, is and always will be something like a lonely beast, but he will go to the nearest disco ... Like butter.

How do you find the initial in the saddle of a "well-trained Arabian horse"?

My motorcycle career meter showed exactly 25 hours of riding on the day of departure to Nice, where Ducati is conducting spring test rides on the Côte d'Azur. No, I forgot to put zeros. The invitation to the test explicitly stated that the new motorcycle from the Ducati house was also intended for beginners and women. But this, mind you, does not mean that the new Monster is something of a plush among motorcycles - no, it just means that even beginners can ride it and - due to a small lower seat, weight and more pedals located in front are also female. The new model from the house of Ducati, at least for me as a test driver, is like a well-trained Arabian horse: it can also be ridden by amateurs, and only professionals can use its full power. 

Monster: brand within brand

When Ducati unveiled the first Monster in 1993 in search of a new directional palette, they unknowingly created a brand within the brand. Today, 25 years later, Monster has become the first stripped athlete on the global motorcycle scene to become an iconic product with recognizable features. Air-cooled two-cylinder Desmodue block with 803 cubic centimeters (Euro 4 standard) has a husky rocker voice, and although the motorino only develops 75 horsepower, the show sounds and feels like the driver is commanding a much larger cavalry.

The two-cylinder engine from Borgo Panigala is actually well-controlled, lightweight and economical. Despite the fact that the Monster 797 has a lot of debts to the Scrambler (engine, driver position), it is even more Monster than any previous Monsters. The main characters of the monster style, of course, fuel tank, muscular, with characteristic lines, a recognizable radiator grille and an oversized headlight. Experienced riders will find it difficult to feel the pedals on the first run as they are lower and closer to the handlebars, but the riding position is more relaxed and less sporty. Moral stories? Monster 797 is the perfect everyday companion. Like jeans. But not alone. The most beautiful, Italian!
