We drove: Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory and Shiver 750 ABS

Which is logical and the only correct, since the Noah twins did not receive any special revolutionary innovations. Let's summarize what we already knew from the presentation at the autumn Milan salon.

Dorsoduro received a factory version. The Pegaso Strada, RSV 1000, Tuono and finally the RSV4 have already received this name, and therefore the higher quality, race-oriented components, as Aprilia celebrates models with a sportier character. Like it's some kind of factory racing car. We doubt that many Dorsoduro owners will take part in the races (the same goes for the Pegasus) because the engine is not designed for this, but I was very interested in how it would work since the base Dorsoduro is already installed. stiff suspension and equipped with sharp brakes.

A huge amount of plastic has been replaced with carbon fiber, namely on the front fender, side fuel caps and around the ignition switch. The rear, including the previously silver exhaust caps, is now matte black. The tubular part of the frame is ducati red, the aluminum part is black, and the seat is stitched with red thread in various materials. The bike as a whole is dangerously beautiful, only the grainy surface of the fuel tank didn't really impress me. Make no mistake - it's not perfect because of the surface varnishing. It is said to be two kilograms lighter than the regular DD.

Another important innovation is the suspension elements. At the front are 43 diameter Sachs telescopes with 160 millimeters of travel (adjustable preload and reverse damping), while at the rear, a 150 millimeters hydraulic shock absorber (adjustable preload and double-sided damping) is mounted on the rocking side. The kit works great while driving, as well as when the rear tire meets the pavement again after a "stop". The difference is obvious, although the basic Dorsoduro for road use already has a more than satisfactory kit!

They also replaced the brake calipers (four-link, radially mounted Brembo), brake pump and disc. Miraculously, this packaging did not become more aggressive (on the contrary?), But the braking power is perfectly dosed with two fingers. The device has remained unchanged, still offering a choice of three programs: Sport, Touring and Rain. The latter is useless, it can only really be useful when you don't trust your right wrist during a downpour.

The engine does not shake and is constantly accelerating, maybe too much. From such a sharp beauty, I would like more brutality. Shortening the secondary (chain) drivetrain will probably help, but for more authentic supermoto pleasures, it also lacks a sliding (anti-skid) clutch and handlebars positioned higher and closer to the driver. On short turns, I didn't know whether to adjust my knee or heel to the asphalt ...

The Shiver did not have a factory version, although it does a lot sportier than the previous model. In addition to the new black and red color combination, it has received a small mask over the light, which subtly turns the motorcycle into an adult and, according to Aprilia, improves aerodynamics. The seat is lower and narrower in front, so the inner thighs are less yellow, and the more open steering wheel and new pedals further improve the ergonomics of the seat. For greater cornering agility, the rear rim is no longer six, but 5 inches wide, while the tire size remains the same.

Maybe the paved Croatian roads around Zadar were to blame for not remembering them so brilliantly after the first kilometers two years ago, or they really renovated it this way this year, but this French experience was very positive. On a winding road, where it happens to you at speeds up to 100 kilometers per hour, he turned out to be a real toy. Very, very maneuverable, stands steadily on the road (excellent frame, high-quality suspension!), Slightly stiffer transmission, obedient and fast, enough power. Only in short corners a little more attention is required, especially if the engine's sport program is selected, as it then pulls restlessly when the throttle is opened.

When maneuvering in the city, the atmosphere warms up to 26 degrees Celsius, there is a heat in the ass and thighs, and it should be noted that the Shiver is more tired than the four-cylinder Japanese, especially the hands. Moreover, given that all the data on the digital fittings (including the average and current consumption) do not find a place for the fuel gauge, this is a bit ridiculous. Okay, he has a light. The Shiver also shows the gear selected, but I confess I haven't looked at that once while driving. ABS works and allows a lot, and maybe even a lot. On uneven asphalt, he immediately goes to the front wheel, so after emergency braking someone will fly over the steering wheel. HM.

First impression

Appearance

You can only compete on a bow. Can you show me a prettier middle class nudist? 5/5

engine

The flexible and responsive twin-cylinder engine fits perfectly into the excellent chassis. It is hampered only by slight pedal vibrations and the heat at low speeds from the engine and exhaust fumes under the seat. 4/5

Comfort

Shiver is not a motorcycle that will pamper the rider with wind protection and the tireless comfort of the "golden wing". Seat ergonomics are good, just right sporty. There is also a GT version! 3/5

Price

Without ABS, it costs 8.540 euros. A quick glance at the price list reveals that the price is comparable to the BMW F 800 R, Ducati Monster 696, Triumph Street Triple and Yamaha FZ8. Interestingly, I already wanted to write that it is (too) expensive? !! Okay, 600 four-cylinder engines from the land of the rising sun are cheaper. 4/5

First grade

I am very interested in how this little Tuono turns out after more than 10 thousand kilometers. Because if Italians have also taken care of the proper endurance, this is one of the best choices in the segment. 4/5

First impression

Appearance

The model outperforms the Ducati Hypermotard Evo and the KTM Duke R, and both excel in detail. It can be crowned with the most beautiful (largest) supermoto. 5/5

Мотор

In such a design, there should be sharpness and a point. You know, I'd jump out of a wheelie turn on my own and/or leave a black mark on the road. Otherwise, the V2 is a good engine. 4/5

Comfort

Hard seat, hard "springs", only a 12 liter gas tank, no passenger handles. 2/5

Price

It is 750 euros more expensive than without the name Zavod. Think for yourself if you find it worthwhile ... There are just as fun engines for less money, but in reality they are not. DD Factory is practically unique. 3/5

First grade

Not for real racers, not even for motorcyclists who love to travel. However, if you want to attack the winding road in (exclusive style), this will be just right. 4/5
