We want a Vauxhall Astra VXR

The new Vauxhall Astra VXR should be one of the most powerful cars in its class and the fastest production Astra ever.

The new Vauxhall Astra VXR, which goes on sale in the UK next year, should be one of the most powerful cars in its class and the fastest production Astra ever.

It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection engine with 210 kW and a powerful 400 Nm of torque. Sprint 0-100 km/h at the bottom of the 5.0 second range.

The VXR benefits from a host of bespoke chassis modifications that turn it into a purposeful, high-performance coupe. It is distinguished from all other current Astra by a specially designed mechanical limited slip differential that works on the front wheels. The differential provides the VXR with exceptional lateral and cornering grip.

Further changes to the chassis include brakes developed by competition supplier Brembo and the fully adaptive FlexRide system. In the VXR, FlexRide not only has a Sport button, but also a VXR button, offering drivers the choice of two more targeted stages of damper, throttle and steering control.

Much of the handover took place on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife under the supervision of 24 Hours of Le Mans winner "Smokin' Jo" Winkelhock.

The car is distinguished by a set of specially shaped front and rear bumpers, side skirts, an aerodynamic roof spoiler and two trapezoidal tailpipes. Inside, the VXR's cabin features custom-made seats with embossed logos on the backs, a flat-bottomed VXR steering wheel, and upgraded gauges. Here I hope.
