We tested: BridgestoneBattlecross X20, X30 and X40

Bridgestone revolutionized the world of off-road motorcycles with the introduction of the Battlecross X30 and X40 models last year. Now they have added another X20 soft terrain tire. Winter is the time when road bikes wait for warm weather, and we ride motocross and enduro all year round. That is why these new tires from the Japanese giant are so relevant.

You might say round and black, but motocross tires are so much more. The latest proof of this is an all-new range of specialized motocross and enduro bike tires that you will recognize at a glance by the fact that inside each block (or “cat”) there is another smaller tire that provides improved traction. We know something similar from the automotive industry, since the same principle is used in all winter tires. But since off-road riding is something different than snow riding, the individual blocks are reinforced with special supports and only shaped to ensure that the blocks don't come off the tread. With the massive use of modern four-stroke engines that develop more than 60 “horsepower”, this is certainly an important fact, because it is thanks to the design of the tread itself that the service life increases. Bridgestone has gone so far as to add custom cooling vanes on both sides after extensive testing and temperature measurements on the X40, which is designed for hard surfaces (i.e. most of our tracks). The technology adopted by Bridgestone in its run flat tires provides a cooling effect even at lower tire pressures, extending tire life and consistent quality throughout the life of the tire.

Thanks to a revolutionary new design, they managed to provide good grip both during acceleration and braking, and in corners. The new models are available in all sizes for motocross or more specifically 19- and 21-inch wheels (rear / front) and for enduro motorcycles with 18-inch rear tires.
