MZ Charlie

I generated a lot of interest in my appearance during traffic jams, but it never occurred to me why everyone was turning their heads behind me. I thought my "nervous people" were jealous when I whistled past the standing sheet metal, but my ride down the bike path was not as unusual as the car I was driving home.

The electric scooter MZ, which the Germans called Charlie (undoubtedly, the name ET alien would suit him more because of its appearance), is of interest to almost all road users by its unusualness. Both the older and younger spectators stopped me on the road and asked what the name of the “thing” I was carrying was called.

Charly belongs to the category of motorcycles, as its maximum speed does not exceed 25 km / h. With it you can ride on bike paths, and you do not need a helmet to ride. It is very practical as it can be disassembled. The seat and steering wheel are folded, so we won't have any problems transporting it in the trunk of the car.

The most interesting thing is the power unit. Recently, conservationists have complained about the pollution and volume of two-stroke engines, so the Ministry of Health decided to install an electric motor on a small scooter. At first, I sat in the seat a little incredulously and was immediately surprised by the performance of the 750-watt motor. The indicator lights on the instrument panel showing battery status did not turn off completely even after a long drive.

According to the manufacturer, Charly can travel 20 kilometers at full load, that is, at full speed and with the lights on. In our case, a five-hour battery charge was enough for a whole day of moving around the city. Simple charging is very interesting, as the motor has a built-in plug that we plug into a home outlet and the battery starts charging.

The engine is especially suitable for city driving as it can be easily inserted into the trunk of a car and thus avoid parking problems. The must-have accessories, of course, include a lock, and the manufacturer also offers the buyer a basket, an extra battery and an extra battery pack.
