This winter, the weather does not indulge drivers. What to look for when traveling in winter

What should you pay special attention to when driving a car in winter conditions?

First of all, you should change the tires, from summer to winter. However, while driving, significantly increase the distance between vehicles. It is enough elementary to significantly reduce the speed and adapt it to the existing conditions on the road.

And what should be strictly avoided when driving on icy or snowy surfaces?

If the road is icy, speed on snowy surfaces must be limited to at least 40 km/h. It is also worth remembering that you cannot use the foot brake and use engine braking much earlier, taking your foot off the gas.

How important is driving technique in this case?

It is extremely important that the conditions in which we drive can, in many cases, lead to unnecessary bumps and collisions. Of course, experience is equally important, as many young drivers make too many mistakes in such conditions. They react nervously and therefore can easily slide and land on a snowdrift or tree.

Is it true that in such weather conditions it is most dangerous to cross viaducts and bridges?

There is some truth in this, because both bridges and viaducts limit the possibility of any maneuver. In addition, they create traffic jams.

Who has to give way when only one car can pass on the filled road?

There is no rule here. If we see a vehicle approaching, we must go as far to the right as possible, stop and allow both vehicles to pass safely. Of course, this should be done by the first driver who notices at least a slight expansion of the so-called recess. Unfortunately, the road builders clearing the roads of snow do not always remember the creation of such extensions. In the conditions of this winter, I have repeatedly encountered such situations, especially on a country (local) road.

Is it easier to enter or leave the city?

In fact, it is determined by the current weather conditions. An example can be given of the blizzard and blizzard on Saturday (January 30), when access to many small towns was completely blocked by snowdrifts. At the same time, it was possible to travel to Poznań, despite some difficulties.

Do our drivers have a winter ability to live?

I think so, and based on my experience I can say that in many situations we can count on the help of other racers. We're just doing each other a favor, and it really doesn't cost any of us anything.

How should we react when our car is stuck in the snow?

When planning a trip, it is worth taking a shovel or shovel, which can be useful. However, before using these tools, you must try to turn on the reverse gear, sometimes it is also necessary to drive alternately - forward and backward. In a situation where these methods fail us, we can only count on the help of other people.
