Fill your holiday season with 12 days of kindness | Chapel Hill Sheena

The annual Chapel Hill Tire Charity Contest is a great way to have fun and support local charities.

Building on the success of their first 12 2020 Days of Kindness competition, Chapel Hill Tire staff have found ways to make this year's event even more fun, engaging and rewarding for local charities. The new app allows teams to outdo each other in acts of kindness. New augmented reality features add even more fun, and every Chapel Hill tire shop has been made available as a drop-off point to make participation even easier.

“This is the time of year to come together as a community,” said Chapel Hill Tire president and co-owner Mark Pons, “to open our hearts and give to others. This is really what 12 Days of Kindness is about. We wanted to create a fun way for people in the Triangle to show how kind and generous our communities are."

12 Days of Kindness is a simple app challenge. Six local charities were selected as beneficiaries. The Wake County Boys and Girls Club and Note in the Pocket represent Wake County. Book Harvest and Meals On Wheels represent County Durham. Orange County is represented by the SECU Family Home and the Refugee Support Center.

“Each charity will have its own team,” Pons said, “and teams will earn points for doing simple things and doing good deeds. You can join any team you want and do as many actions and good deeds as you want. After 12 days, the highest scoring team will earn $3,000 for charity, the second-place team will receive a $2,000 donation, and we will donate $1,000 to charity for the third-place team. However, each of the six charities will be the winner. Acts of kindness are donations of items chosen by each charity, and teams earn the most points by donating to other charities. So the best way to earn cash prizes for charity is to give more to others.”

Participation is easy. Just download the OmniscapeXR app from the App Store or Google Play., Sign up for our Season of the Kindness Campaign, choose a team, decide what kind deeds you'd like to do, and start racking up points. The app will show you where to leave your donations. And it will have a leaderboard to show you which teams and which individual players are leading. Plus, you can use the app to find and collect some really fun holiday-themed augmented reality add-ons, like collectible Christmas elves at drop-off spots and other AR rewards to help add a bit of joy to the season.

“We invite everyone in the Triangle to join us,” Pons said. “The 12 days will start on Wednesday, December 8, and will last until Monday, December 20. It will be a lot of fun, so invite your friends and let's fill our holiday season with kindness, good mood and goodwill together. ”
