Our people - Presley Anderson

Meet Presley Anderson, she hopes she's known you for many years (and a lot of cars too!)

Our people - Presley Anderson

Presley Anderson had been a service consultant for Chapel Hill Tire for just over a month when she found herself saying something unexpected to any 19-year-old: "This is where I want to retire."

A few years later, Presley still holds this opinion.

“I love where I am, I love the people I work with,” Presley said. "I want to retire here."

And Chapel Hill Tire would like to make that wish come true. “She is an exemplary worker who has stood out from the start of her career here,” said company president Mark Pons.

“Presley came to us through a partnership with Wake Technical Community College, where she took her Automotive System Technology program. Her drive and talent impressed Jerry Egan, our program director with Wake Tech."

According to Pons, Egan told him, "I have someone who I think is really special."

Just as Presley stood out from Chapel Hill Tire, she was already interested in the value-driven company after spotting them at job fairs.

“The values attracted me,” Presley said. “They were easy to read, to the point, and involved both the company and employees.”

For a young professional looking for a place to start their career, this was of great importance.

Pons, who appreciates the energy young workers bring to Chapel Hill Tire, said the company's values appeal to millennials because they show we're family, a place where you can belong. And Presley experiences it every day.

"I didn't appreciate those values that much until I saw that everyone was actually living by them," Presley said.

And for Presley, sticking to core values was already part of who she was. Team victory. The pursuit of excellence. All this stands out to Presley as integral qualities of any good person.

"The easiest way to live our values," Presley said, "is to genuinely care about our clients and my team."

And this sincere concern of team members is a two-way street. Compared to her past experience, which pushed her away from the technical work she originally wanted to do, Chapel Hill Tire helped her analyze her strengths and find the best place to start her career.

"They were all open and appreciative of my point of view," Presley said. "Instead of judging me, they helped me figure out where I want to go."

Presley has since been promoted to parts and service coordinator, where she can finally showcase her technical knowledge and skills.

Chapel Hill Tire continues to support Presley's professional growth by paying for her accounting and business courses at Wake Tech.

“We have to invest in our people,” Pons said. “Empowering people is part of how we live our values. Our partnerships with local community colleges are one of the ways our employees are empowered to take on new roles, and as such, we continue to expand them as well.”

And for Presley, Chapel Hill Tire supporting her during more activities is another reason she knows she's in the right place.

“I look at it like my career,” Presley said. "I see my future in the pursuit of excellence."

Presley's goal is to one day have her own tire manufacturing facility in Chapel Hill and be able to support her own staff the way Pons and the entire team did for her.

And no matter how much CHT expands, Presley is confident the core values will still make him feel like family.

"With so many good people that would fit in here," Presley said. “It will be a really big family.
