We are talking about the door locks of VAZ 2105, 2106, 2107 cars. Even when they are new, these locks make a lot of noise when the door is closed, which certainly cuts the ear at a time when the car has already received full sound insulation, and the operation of its components and mechanisms is adjusted. But there is a way out, this is the installation of silent locks in the car door.

Silent lock design

Silent locks, unlike factory locks installed on the VAZ 2105, 2106, 2107, have a completely different principle of operation. They work on the principle of a latch, this is how locks are arranged on modern models of foreign-made cars. The device of this lock allows him to close the door quietly and with minimal effort, it is easy enough to press the door down with your hand.

The castle consists of two parts. During installation, the inner part installed in the door is connected to the outer part with bolts, forming a single mechanism. The lock control rods from the door handles, lock buttons, lock cylinders are connected to the inside of the lock. The outer part is responsible for engaging with the lock retainer mounted on the car body pillar.

Which lock to choose for installation

Factories and cooperatives have been producing silent locks for various car models for a long time. Some automakers have even begun installing them on production vehicles. So, Volga, VAZ 2108/09, VAZ 2110-2112, VAZ 2113-2115, VAZ 2170 cars have already acquired silent locks. On the market, you can choose a lock model suitable for your model with minimal alterations. Locks adapted for installation on VAZ 2105, 2106, 2107 are not produced by factories, so motorists, over time, have developed ways to install locks from other VAZ car models. Later, cooperatives began to produce sets of locks designed for installation on these VAZ models.

Kits made by cooperatives cannot boast of a guarantee of quality, however, the presence of all the parts necessary for installing locks undoubtedly attracts the buyer.

But given that low-quality kits will still have to be modified during installation, then you should pay attention to high-quality factory locks manufactured at factories in Dimitrovgrad, PTIMASH, FED and others. These locks will last longer and will certainly not cause inconvenience during operation. Having spent time installing a factory lock, you will independently determine what additional elements are needed, and which will be preferable for your car, the lock will be installed with high quality and will last a long time.

On the VAZ 2105, 2106 and 2107 models, you can install a lock from any VAZ model with silent locks. The most popular choice among motorists who decide to put a silent lock on the “classic” is the lock from the VAZ 2108 car.

Installation of silent locks on the door

Installing locks is a slow process that requires preparation. In order to do everything qualitatively, you need to spend a lot of time measuring, making fasteners and selecting rods. It is necessary to take care of the preparation of the room in advance, where everything will be at hand: lighting, 220 V socket, vise. Prepare the tools and materials you may need:

  1. Wrenches: spanners, open-end wrenches. Better set of heads.
  2. Drill, drill.
  3. Round file.
  4. A hammer.
  5. Passatizhi.
  6. Screwdrivers.
  7. Hacksaw or grinder.
  8. A tap with a pitch corresponding to the thread of the lock retainer.

  10. Long lock bolts.
  11. Lock retainer for door pillar.
  12. It is advisable to stock up on new clips for attaching the door trim.

When everything is ready, you can start disassembling the door to install new locks.

Removing the door trim

We release access to the lock mechanism from the inside of the door, for this we remove the trim from it. On the cars in question (VAZ 2105, 2106, 2107), the trim is slightly different, but the principle is the same:

  1. We remove the door closing handle, also known as the armrest, by first pulling out the bolt plug and unscrewing the bolt with a Phillips screwdriver.
  2. We remove the window lifter handle by removing the retaining ring from under it, it can be metal or in the form of a plastic lining that also acts as a retaining ring (depending on the car model and the very design of the installed handle).
  3. We remove the decorative trim from the door opening handle by prying it with a slotted screwdriver.
  4. If necessary, remove the button for locking the door lock by prying it with a knife.
  5. We snap off the trim clips from the door around the perimeter by prying the trim with a screwdriver from either side.
  6. Remove the trim.

Carefully review how the trim and its elements are fixed on your car before removal. Perhaps, if you are not the only owner of your car and, earlier, the trim could be additionally fixed with self-tapping screws, in the case when there were no new clips at hand or window lifter handles were installed from another car. In this case, everything is individual and it is necessary to determine the procedure for disassembling the door on the spot.

Removing the outer door handle

This operation is not necessary to install the lock, but if you plan to install euro handles on the car, then the factory handles must be removed. You can also remove them taking the opportunity, and clean and lubricate the handle mechanism. In order to remove the handle, you need:

  1. Remove the rod from the door handle to the lock, disconnect it with a screwdriver from the lock loop.

  2. 2 nuts securing the handle are unscrewed with an 8 wrench.

  4. Now you can carry out preventive maintenance on the door handle or prepare the door for installing a new eurohandle.

Despite the fact that the VAZ 2106 car door handle has a different design, the removal principle does not change. The only difference is that the larva of the lock is located on the handle and to remove it, it is also necessary to disconnect the rod from the larva to the lock.

Removing factory locks from the door

To remove the lock from the door, you must:

  1. Raise the glass to the top position.
  2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two bolts that hold the glass guide bar.

  3. We take out the guide bar, taking it away from the glass.

  4. Unscrew and place the door handle inside the door.

  5. We unscrew the 3 bolts securing the lock and take out the lock together with the rod and the handle from the door.

Installing a silent lock from the VAZ 2108

Now you can start installing a new silent lock, let's proceed:

  1. On the new lock, remove the flag that will interfere with installation.

  2. With a 10 mm drill, we drill one of the lower holes, located closer to the outer part of the door (panel). And we bore the second hole up and down for the pusher of the outer part of the lock to move in it.
  3. We apply a new lock from the inside of the door by inserting the lower lock sleeve into the drilled hole and mark the area that needs to be bored out with a file for the upper lock sleeve.

  4. We check the correctness of the boring of the holes, if necessary, correct.

  5. We install the outer part of the lock and twist it with bolts from the inside.
  6. We cover the door and observe where the lock will cling to the door pillar.
  7. If necessary, we grind the protruding parts of the outer part of the lock from the side with which it is adjacent to the door.

  8. We assemble the lock and prepare its counterpart - the lock bolt on the door pillar.

  9. We accurately measure the location of the latch by closing the door and marking the center of the lock on the rack with a pencil. Then, with a ruler from the edge of the door panel, we measure the distance to the place on the lock where the lock latch should be in the closed state. We transfer this distance to the rack and mark the center of the bolt.
  10. We drill a hole in the rack to install the door lock latch. The rack is made of two layers of metal - the carrier rack and plumage. In the first outer part we drill a hole 10,5–11 mm in diameter, and in the inner part 8,5–9 mm and already on it with a tap for 10 with a thread pitch of 1 mm we cut the thread for the latch.
  11. We tightly screw the latch and check how it engages with the lock. So that the latch does not interfere with the closing of the door, it is necessary to pre-cut the thread on it up to the polyurethane sleeve itself, then the latch will be screwed deeper into the rack.
  12. Now you can close the door and adjust the lock.
  13. We install rods from the lock to the door opening handles, the lock button and the lock cylinder, if you have it enabled. Traction will have to be selected and finalized in place.

  14. We check the operation of all devices. If everything is in order, we collect the door trim.

It happens when, after installing the lock, it will be impossible to adjust it, because there will not be enough free play at the lock. To avoid these problems and not remove the lock, you can pre-drill holes of a slightly larger diameter. But this must be done after all the measurements and modifications of the lock, before the final assembly.

Installation of "euro handles" of the door

At the discretion of the car owner, he can additionally install new European-style door handles with silent locks. Euro handles, in addition to the aesthetic appearance, will also make a significant contribution to the common cause - the door will close quietly and easily, and open comfortably.

Eurohandles, produced for installation on the VAZ 2105, 2106 and 2107, are installed instead of the factory ones without problems and alterations. Features of installing silent on VAZ 2105, 2106, 2107

It should be taken into account one important feature associated with the installation of silent locks on the "classics". After installing the lock, the lever that is responsible for opening the lock is directed in the opposite direction, that is, it must be lowered to open the lock, unlike the factory lock, where the lever had to be raised. From here follows the refinement of regular door opening handles or the installation of euro handles upside down. An additional metal flag must be installed on the internal mechanism of the VAZ 2105 and 2106 handle, on which the rod will be fixed, so that when the handle is opened, the flag presses down.

Getting started, you should be guided by the principle "Measure seven times, cut once", here it will be more than ever useful. Having done everything qualitatively, you will get a good result. Now you do not have to loudly slam the door, sometimes several times.
