This post will be about the problems that owners of injection cars often have, such as Lada Kalina, Priora, Grant or VAZ 2110 - 2112. However, the problem can also apply to foreign cars, since the intake system is not very different.

So, in this article I will tell you the problem that I encountered specifically on one car. The patient was Lada Kalina with a 1,6 liter and 8-valve engine. After buying this car in a car dealership, problems began with it already in the first winter, namely, there were some difficulties with starting the engine in cold weather. Starting from -18 and below, the engine did not start the first time.

Every year the situation worsened, and when the car was already 5 years old, even at -15 it was almost impossible to start it. That is, the starter could turn confidently, it was possible to make 5-6 attempts, and only after that it was difficult to start.

Finding the problem and replacing sensors on the ECM

During all this time, it was possible to replace almost all sensors that could be responsible for the normal start of the engine, namely:

  1. DFID
  2. DPDZ and IAC
  3. Coolant temperature sensor
  4. Phase sensor
  5. DPKV

As for the rest of the elements that could be responsible for starting the motor, they were also serviceable.

  • excellent fuel rail pressure
  • new spark plugs, and various were installed from 50 to 200 rubles per candle
  • as soon as the engine was started, even at -30, then it could be started again without problems

When the problem was already so serious that in case of slight frosts there were difficulties with starting, it was decided to seek qualified help from an experienced specialist. As a result, after the diagnostics were carried out, it was decided to make a slight revision of my ECU unit, and January 73 was installed from the M7.2, which turned out to be defective. +.

As a result, after installing a redesigned engine control unit, the experimental Kalina began to start up without problems, not only at -15, but also at -30 from the first time.

As for the firmware itself, it was impossible to solve the problem by reprogramming the M73, only by reworking the block. But, as you can see, the result met all expectations.
