Incredibly, this is the first flying car that can legally roam the streets of the Netherlands.

The PAL-V Liberty becomes the first flying car to be allowed to roam the streets of Holland and this video showcases its impressive character.

What seemed to be something far from a vision that we only saw in the movies, or maybe it was just a dream, is now becoming a reality, and who would have thought that flying cars would be a reality. The truth is that technology has made this feat possible and this type of vehicle can already be seen in the Netherlands.

After passing rigorous speed tests, braking demonstrations and noise pollution measurements, the flying car PAL-V Svoboda succeeded in obtaining permission for distribution in the Netherlands, as the manufacturer said in a statement.

“We have worked with the road authorities for many years to reach this milestone,” he said. Mike Stekelenburg, technology leader of PAL-V.

The PAL-V Liberty is a gyrocopter with a folding rotor that allows it to drive through the streets like a normal car, in fact, it has earned itself the title of the world's first commercial flying car.

To fly, it requires a runway between 180 and 330 meters long for takeoff and only 30 meters for landing. Both in the air and on the road, its top speed is 112 miles per hour (180 km/h). Switching from flight mode to road mode or vice versa takes approximately five to ten minutes.

Like any internal combustion vehicle, it uses regular gasoline and has a range of 817 miles (1,315 km) on the highway. In the air, it can fly 250 to 310 miles (400 to 500 km) and is capable of staying in the air for 4.3 hours.

According to Digital Trends and the manufacturing company itself, there are already about 30 orders from residents of the Netherlands who paid about $587,000 for the Liberty.

The bad news is that while the PAL-V has everything it needs to be Car of the Year, the European Aviation Safety Agency has yet to respond to the company's request, so the car has not yet been certified to fly. The company expects this approval to be obtained in 2022.
