SEAT aims to produce auto parts from rice husks and is starting its trials with the León.

The advantage of products made by this method is that they are lighter and allow the use of rice husks that are thrown away every year around the world.

Keeping nature in balance and polluting the environment as little as possible is the task of everyone, so car manufacturers are joining this trend in favor of environmental protection the use of environmentally friendly materials in the auto parts of their new models.

Now it's the turn SEATS, who offered to take part in saving the environment by launching a pilot trial for the production of car parts from rice husks.

According to Motorpasión, at the moment with the aim of reducing the production of plastic products and petroleum products.

The project consists of research and use Rice, on the lining of their cars. Oryzite is a method that allows rice hulls to be incorporated into all types of thermoplastic compounds. Thus, SEAT intends to use 800 million tons of rice husks, which are discarded annually in the world after harvest.

“In the Montsia rice chamber, which produces 60.000 to 12.000 tons of rice per year, we looked for an alternative to use the entire amount of burnt husk, about tons, and turned it into Oryzite,” explains the CEO of Oryzite, Iban Gandukse.

One of the advantages of this method is that allows you to create lighter products, which is confirmed by the tailgate, the double boot floor or the SEAT Leon roof upholstery.

Coatings are currently being analyzed to find out how much casing can be used to meet technical and quality requirements.
