Nissan showed off its cheapest crossover

Japanese manufacturer Nissan showed the most affordable crossover in its lineup. It is called Magnite and was supposed to be sold under the Datsun brand, but in the end it was decided that it would be closed by the end of the year, and this required urgent changes, especially in the appearance of the car.

However, Nissan designers did not give up some details, such as the radiator grille. To a large extent, Magnite repeats the larger Nissan Kicks crossover, from which it borrowed the interior. However, so far the photos of the salon have not been made public.

In fact, currently Magnite is just a conceptual model, and some elements will be removed in the serial version. This is especially true for the large rear diffuser and 16-inch wheels. Car production will begin next year, which means that Nissan will still present the final version of the car.

According to preliminary data, Magnite is built on the CMF-A + platform, which is also used by its "brother" Renault Kwid (which is the cheapest crossover in the French brand's lineup). The range of engines consists of a 1,0-liter naturally aspirated engine with 72 hp. and a turbocharged version of the same unit with 100 hp. Gearboxes 5-speed mechanical and variator.

The crossover is designed for the Indian market and therefore its length will not exceed 4 meters (in the country such cars enjoy serious tax benefits). Nevertheless, Magnite equipment is quite serious: the basic version is equipped with an air conditioning system, multimedia with an 8-inch display and Internet access, circular cameras and other additions.

Nissan says the crossover will be available in other markets, not just in India. Initially, the model will be available only in Asia, but at a later stage it will be adapted for other regions.
