New: Tori Master

Designer Tony Riefel this time used his rich design and mechanical experience to develop a new four-stroke moped that should satisfy both demanding and less demanding users.

This complex project, from concept design to mass production and sales, lasted eight long years. The first sketch was made in 2000, the first prototype in 2002, and in 2006 and 2008 the corresponding demanding European certificates were obtained, with which the new moped can also be sold in the European Union.

The main idea was to create a robust and reliable moped that, in addition to classic civilian use, will also cope with the most difficult work duties. Thus, the technical design is exactly what we expect from such mopeds.

Licensed Honda engine manufactured in Taiwan. It is a four-stroke, single-cylinder engine, and its exhaust system is clean enough to meet the Euro3 standard. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel by a chain, the transmission is four-speed. The transmission layout is somewhat unusual, as all gears, including the first, are engaged when the transmission pin is pressed.

The clutch can be automatic, and a classic manual clutch version will also be available for more demanding users. Regardless of the type of clutch, fuel consumption ranges from 1 to 5 liters per 2 kilometers.

There are currently three different models. The Master model is the most basic, followed by the Master X, which is additionally equipped with a manual clutch and center stand, and for the needs of the most demanding markets, the Stalion is also available, which is even more richly equipped. Electric starter and speedometer in a slightly prettier case than the base model.

The new Tori is sold in 21 European Union countries and agreements are currently being signed to expand sales to the Turkish and South American markets. In Slovenia, sales and after-sales services are entrusted to VELO dd (part of the former Slovenija Avta), and in their stores a basic workshop will cost 1.149 euros. They plan to produce 10.000 pieces per year and will also move production to one of the EU countries in the coming years.

First impression:

I confess that after a very short trip I was pleasantly surprised. I had no doubt that Mr. Riefel designed a good moped, but this TORI is a very successful moped. The four-stroke engine fires up as soon as you gently press the "knob", it runs quietly and quietly. The automatic clutch will behave calmly after running in and a little tightening.

The drivetrain layout is a bit unusual, but the gear ratios are just right for a smooth ride. There is only room for one on the soft seat, otherwise the moped rides the same way as this moped. The engine is a little stifling due to the legislation, but the thought that the lock is actually only in the CDI module, which also takes care of the ignition, haunts me. I won't be tempted to sin, but with some knowledge and tools, this Master can be a very fast moped. ...
