The Nissan Qashqai fuel filter is a part responsible for the performance of the car's pump, injectors and engine. The efficiency of combustion and hence the power of an internal combustion engine depend on the purity of the incoming fuel. Gasoline internal combustion engines of Qashqai crossovers are equipped with fuel filter elements included in a single module - a gasoline pump. It is located in the fuel tank. The first generation Qashqai (J10) was equipped with 1,6 HR16DE and 2,0 MR20DE gasoline engines. Second generation petrol engines: 1.2 H5FT and 2.0 MR20DD. The manufacturers did not make a fundamental difference: the Nissan Qashqai fuel filter is the same for cars of both generations equipped with the indicated engines.

The Qashqai fuel pump has built-in coarse and fine fuel filters. The module can be disassembled, but original spare parts cannot be found separately. Nissan supplies fuel pumps with filters as a complete kit, part number 17040JD00A. Since the disassembly of the module is allowed at the factory, car owners prefer to replace the filter with analogues. The filter element for fine purification of gasoline, offered by the Dutch company Nipparts, is considered to be verified. In the catalog, the fuel filter is listed under the number N1331054.

 

The size of the consumable, the technical characteristics indicate almost complete identity with the original. The advantage of the analog part lies in the ratio of price and quality.

Qashqai Fuel Filter for Diesel Engines

Diesel engines Nissan Qashqai - 1,5 K9K, 1,6 R9M, 2,0 M9R. The Qashqai fuel filter for diesel power plants differs in design from the same part of a gasoline engine. External signs: a cylindrical metal box with tubes on top. The filter element is located inside the housing. The part is not in the fuel tank, but under the hood of the crossover on the left side.

 

In fact, a filter in the form of a grid is not installed on a diesel Qashqai. The grid can be found in the fuel tank. It is located in front of the pump and is designed to deal with large debris in the fuel. When assembling, an original filter is installed on cars, which has a catalog number 16400JD50A. Among the analogues, the filters of the German company Knecht / Mahle have proven themselves well. The old catalog number KL 440/18, the new one can now be found under the number KL 440/41.

The question of whether to replace with more expensive, but original spare parts, or use analogues, each owner of the Qashqai crossover decides independently. The manufacturer, of course, recommends installing only original spare parts.

Replacing the fuel filter Nissan Qashqai

Disconnect the battery terminal and remove the fuse

According to the maintenance regulations, the Nissan Qashqai fuel filter must be changed after 45 thousand km. A third MOT is scheduled for this run. In severe operating conditions, the manufacturer recommends halving the time, so it is better to replace the fuel filter (taking into account the quality of gasoline at our service stations) after the mark of 22,5 thousand km.

Before proceeding with the replacement of the fuel filter, it is necessary to arm yourself with screwdrivers (flat and Phillips), a rag and a building hair dryer. The fasteners (latches) of the shield behind which the pump is located are tightened with a Phillips or flat screwdriver. It is enough to turn the latches a little so that when removed they slide through the holes in the trim. You will also need a flathead screwdriver to open the latches by prying off the filter. A cloth can be used to clean the surface of the fuel pump before removing it.

Relieving pressure

Before starting work, it is necessary to relieve pressure in the Qashqai fuel system. Otherwise, fuel may come into contact with unprotected skin or eyes. The procedure is as follows:

• Move the gear lever to neutral position, fix the machine with a parking brake;
• Remove the sofa for the rear passengers;
• Remove the fuel pump shield and disconnect the chip with wires;
• Start the engine and wait for the full development of the remaining gasoline; the car will stop;
• Turn the key back and crank the starter for a couple of seconds.

Another way is to remove the blue fuse F17 located in the rear mounting block under the hood (that is, Qashqai in the J10 body). First, the "negative" terminal is removed from the battery. After removing the fuse, the terminal returns to its place, the engine starts and runs until the gasoline is completely depleted. As soon as the engine stops, the car is disabled, the fuse returns to its place.

Part of the procedure for replacing the fuel filter (before removing the chip with wires from the pump) is described above. The algorithm for the remaining actions is as follows:

If the top of the fuel pump is dirty, it must be cleaned. For these purposes, a rag is suitable. It is better to remove the fuel hose in its pure form. It is held by two clamps and it is difficult to crawl up to the lower clamp. A flat screwdriver or small pliers are useful here, with which it is convenient to slightly tighten the latch.

There is a factory mark on the top cap, which, when tightened, should be in a position between the “minimum” and “maximum” marks. Sometimes it can be unscrewed manually. If the lid does not lend itself, Qashqai owners resort to improvised means.

The released bomb is carefully removed from the seat in the tank. The sealing ring is removable for convenience. During removal, you will have access to the connector that needs to be disconnected. The fuel pump must be removed at a slight angle so as not to damage the float (it is connected to the sensor by a curved metal bar). Also, when removing, one more connector with a fuel transfer hose (located at the bottom) is disconnected.

The cured fuel pump must be disassembled. There are three latches on the bottom of the glass. They can be removed with a flat screwdriver. The upper part is raised and the filter mesh is removed. It makes sense to wash the specified element of the module in soapy water.

The fuel level sensor is removed by pressing the corresponding plastic retainer and moving it to the right. From above it is necessary to disconnect two pads with wires. In addition, the fuel pressure regulator has been removed to facilitate subsequent glass cleaning.

To separate the parts of the fuel pump, it is necessary to disassemble the spring.

Fuel pressure control

It is almost impossible to remove the old filter without heating the hoses. The building hair dryer will create the desired temperature, soften the hoses and allow them to be removed. A new filter (for example, from Nipparts) is installed in place of the old one in reverse order.

They return to their place: washed mesh and glass, spring, hoses, level sensor and pressure regulator. The upper and lower parts of the fuel pump are connected, the pads return to their places.

The assembled module with a new fuel filter is lowered into the tank, a transfer hose and a connector are attached to it. After installation, the clamping cap is screwed on, the mark must be in the specified range between "min" and "max". The fuel pipe and the chip with wires are connected to the fuel pump.

The engine must be started to fill the filter. If the whole procedure is performed correctly, gasoline will be pumped, the engine will start, there will be no Check Engine on the dashboard indicating an error.

At the final stage of replacement, a shield is installed, the latches rotate for a secure fit. The sofa is placed for rear passengers.

Replacing the fuel filter is a responsible and mandatory procedure. On Qashqai crossovers, this must be done at the third MOT (45 thousand km), but when using low-quality gasoline, it is better to shorten the interval. The stability of the engine and its service life depend on the purity of the fuel.
