Requirements for pasting a taxi in accordance with GOST
In addition to GOST, the rules for issuing a vehicle for paid transportation are regulated by Law No. 69 “On Taxi”, adopted in 2011 (amendments came into force in 2013). It contains requirements for a taxi driver and his car. Under this law, all cars owned by licensed companies must have a single body design.
Each subject of the Russian Federation can independently choose the color of a taxi for themselves. For example, in Moscow, a permit for passenger transportation can only be issued for a yellow vehicle with horizontal checkered stripes on both sides, and in the Moscow Region - for a white car with a yellow checkered stripe.
Options for registration of a car under a taxi
Theoretically, a golden body color is acceptable (if the “yellow” mark is in the STS), but it’s better to paste over the car in the right color.
Car preparation
Before wrapping the car with a film for a taxi, it is necessary to carefully prepare the body. Even dust particles that are invisible to the eye can lead to the formation of bubbles or peeling of the coating. For this you need:
- wash the vehicle with car shampoo;
- if insect or bitumen stains remain on the body, remove them with a solvent or alcohol;
- polish and degrease all surfaces;
- wipe the machine with a clean and dry lint-free cloth.
If necessary, before washing, you can blow dust out of the cracks or remove it with a soft brush.
Pasting instructions
It is necessary to work in a clean room with bright lighting and moderate humidity at a temperature of +20 degrees.
There are two methods of wrapping a car: wet and dry. To wrap the car with a film for a taxi in the first way, proceed as follows:
- Without removing the substrate, apply the film to the body elements, marking the cut lines.
- Lay the material on a clean, flat surface and cut out the details, leaving a small margin around the perimeter of each.
- The soap solution is diluted and the body part to be glued is sprayed with it, leaving no dry areas.
- Lay the pattern face down and remove the bottom paper backing.
- As accurately as possible, the workpiece is placed in its place, slightly stretching and fixing along the upper corners. The wet surface of the part will allow you to lift the material and move it if necessary.
- With a squeegee or a plastic card, the film is ironed from the middle to the edges, expelling liquid from under it.
- After removing all the water, they again smooth the surface with a felt squeegee from the center to the edges, while heating it with a building hair dryer at a temperature of 50-70 degrees. The tool is held at an angle of 45 degrees, not bringing it closer to the surface than 20 cm.
- Trim the edges, leaving 5 mm around the perimeter.
- Lubricate the protruding parts with a primer, bend and glue the parts to the ends, smoothing with a squeegee.
- At the end of the work, the car is wiped with a dry rag and left to dry for a day at the same temperature.

For the next 3-4 days, until the coating finally "grabs", you can not wash the car and drive at a speed of more than 60 km / h.
In a dry way, the yellow film on the car is glued in the same way. The only difference is that it will immediately stick to the body and cannot be re-glued for correction. This is more difficult, but the process is faster and there is no need for subsequent drying.
Features of pasting a car depending on the model
Volkswagen
The body of the Volkswagen Polo has smooth lines without sharp edges and protrusions, and it can be easily pasted over with a yellow film for a car. A sedan will need about 1 m less "self-adhesive" than a hatchback.
"Toyota"
"Toyota Camry" from the 6th generation and above has a complex shape of the front bumper and radiator grill, so it will be more difficult to paste over a car with a film under a taxi. 16 m of vinyl with a width of 1,5 m is sufficient for wrapping a car.

Despite the protruding ribs of the Land Cruiser's hood, it can be easily pasted over. The machine is large. If the width of the canvas is not enough, you can make a joint in an inconspicuous place (for example, under a checkered strip). If you paste over the car without a joint, stretch marks may appear on the film.

After the car has been pasted over with a film for a taxi car, it is necessary to make changes to the STS of the car in the traffic police. Designate a new color (yellow / white / gray - depending on the region), and in the column "Special notes" should be the inscription "Taxi".
