Great Wall Cannon X Review 2021: Snapshot

The top of the 2021 GWM Ute lineup is the flagship variant of the Cannon X.

The Great Wall Cannon X is a fairly affordable top model when it comes to double cockpit, at $40,990. Of course, this is over the psychological threshold of $ 40 thousand, but you get a lot of money for your money when it comes to this new GWM Ute.

Standard equipment for this version of the Great Wall ute includes quilted (real) leather trim on the seats and door cards, power adjustment for both front seats, wireless phone charger, voice recognition, and a 7.0-inch digital driver screen. Also visible at the front is a redesigned center console layout that is smarter and offers more space than lower grades.

The rear seat folds in a ratio of 60:40, and also has a folding armrest. The cab additionally gets reach steering adjustment (which really should be standard across all classes - lower specs only have tilt adjustment instead), and the driver also has a choice of steering modes.

It goes beyond what you get in the lower grades, including 18-inch wheels, side steps, front and rear LED lighting, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And like the Cannon L below it, it also has a sports bar, spray can, and roof rails.

And like other GWM Utes, there's a long standard list of safety technologies, including automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping and lane departure assist, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and much more. seven airbags, including a front center airbag. The GWM Ute is on par with newer Ute competitors such as the Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 in incorporating safety technology.

The Cannon X has the same powertrain as the other versions, a 2.0-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder engine producing 120kW/400Nm. It works with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard, and all-wheel drive (4×4) is available on request for all models.

There is a 750kg unbraked towing capacity and a 3000kg braked trailer and a payload of 1050kg.
