Test drive Kia Sorento Prime 2015

In October last year, at the Paris Motor Show, the world presentation of the next generation of Kia Sorento, codenamed Prime, took place. The implementation of the new flagship crossover in Russia began on June 1. As expected, the model will enter the market in mid-June, but the company decided not to postpone the launch of the car until later. The cost of the model starts at 2 and ends at 109 rubles. For comparison, the price for the second generation Sorento is in the range of 900-2 million rubles. However, if you look at the newly acquired competitors, then such a pricing policy of the company is quite adequate.

Review of Kia Sorento Prime 2015

Options and specifications

KIA Sorento Prime appeared on the Russian market in three modifications. At the same time, two versions are available for each of them - 5- and 7-seater. All configurations of the novelty are equipped with a diesel all-wheel drive power unit, the working volume of which is 2.2 liters, the power is 200 horsepower, and the moment of force is 441 Nm. It is paired with a 6-level transmission with automatic gear shifting. This combination allows the Prime generation KIA Sorento to start from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.6 seconds. Each modification is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers, as well as the Drive Mode Select system, which is responsible for selecting the driving mode.
It is worth noting that the European version of the Kia Sorento received:
2-liter diesel engine (185 hp);
a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 200 "horses";
petrol "four" at 188 hp and 2.4 liters.
At the same time, all engines are equipped with a 6-speed automatic, and a diesel engine is also equipped with a mechanical transmission.

Exterior

Sorento Prime has a very laconic exterior with classic body lines without sharp protrusions and modern elements. In general, the new graphite-colored grille and the front of the car are called “tiger nose”.

In addition, there are black decorative inserts on the body. The optics have a classic look (a pair of lenses, a conventional turn signal lamp and LED running lights). This is standard equipment for all modifications. However, for versions such as Luxe and Prestige, it is possible to install xenon headlights with an automatically adjustable angle of inclination. The premium model is equipped with an adaptive AFLS xenon headlight with the same tilt option.

The appearance of the new Kia Sorento Prime 2015

Despite the fact that the car is mainly intended for movement around the city and on the highway, an off-road body kit is installed on it. Along its perimeter are black plastic covers, and on the doors there are chrome covers. By the way, the door handles are also made in chrome. But from behind the car is not so expressive and looks like a regular station wagon. The fifth door is equipped with an electric drive and an intelligent Smart Tailgate opening system (for Premium and Prestige trim levels); to open it, just walk up to the car with the key in your pocket.

The stylish appearance of the car as a whole is quite harmonious. The smoothness of the body lines, on which the team of designers and engineers worked, is intended primarily to improve the aerodynamics and, accordingly, the fuel efficiency of the model.

Interior

In the salon, German notes are felt, it is not for nothing that German designers work in the Korean company. The center console with a large 8-inch display for the infotainment system expands the vehicle visually. At the same time, the system has navigation, AUX and USB ports, CD, an enhanced Infinity audio subsystem with a subwoofer and nine speakers, as well as the ability to voice control via Bluetooth. In this case, control via the sensor is duplicated by buttons.

The interior of the new Kia Sorento Prime

The new Sorento has a steering wheel from the Kia Optima, so it looks smaller than the previous generation. At the same time, the steering wheel itself is covered with leather, is adjustable in two planes and is heated.

For all trim levels, except for the basic Luxe assembly, the Smartkey system is available (keyless access) and the start of the power unit with a button. The dashboard houses a 7-inch TFT-LCD screen. According to the classical German standard, the glass control is combined with the mirror control. And thanks to the integrated IMS (Setting Memory) system, two drivers can individually adjust the position of the seat, steering wheel and side mirrors.

The climate system is the same for all modifications of the model - it is climate control with two zones, ionization and an anti-fogging system. Power sunroof and panoramic sunroof available on Premium trim.

The interior of the model goes well with its appearance - laconic, in soothing colors, without unnecessary elements. It is also worth noting in this Kia Sorento Prime 2015 review that the interior of this car will suit even the most demanding user.
