The SX sits above the entry-level S class in the Kia Sportage lineup, and list prices start at $35,000 for the 2.0-liter petrol variant with a manual transmission and $37,000 for the automatic version. The SX in diesel and with automatic transmission costs $42,400.

The SX comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, 12.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, six-speaker stereo, rearview camera and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, fabric . seats, dual-zone climate control, satellite navigation, LED headlights and LED daytime running lights.

The SX is offered with a choice of three engines: the 2.0kW/115Nm 192-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was also in the previous model; A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine with 137kW/416Nm and it was back in the old Sportage; but a new 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (replacing the 2.4-litre petrol) with 132 kW/265 Nm was added.

The Sportage has not yet received an ANCAP crash rating and we will let you know when it is announced.

All classes have AEB that can detect cyclists and pedestrians even at interchanges, there's lane departure warning and lane keep assist, rear cross traffic warning with braking, and blind spot warning.
