Many technical solutions and equipment will come from the BMW iNext electric crossover.

The current BMW M5 will soon be heavily redesigned. It is now equipped with a 4,4-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. But the next generation M5 will be a turning point. According to Car, citing its own sources, in 2024 the Germans will offer the world a car with two optional power plants. In both cases, electric motors will play an important role.

The updated BMW M5 of the current generation in the Competition version accelerates to 100 km / h in 3,3 seconds, but the all-electric successor will be able to do this exercise in 3 seconds. And also, judging by insider information, the autonomous mileage will be up to 700 km.

Many of the technical solutions and equipment for the new M5 will come from the BMW iNext electric crossover, which will enter the assembly line at the Dingolfing plant in 2021.

The base version of the BMW M5 will be a full-fledged hybrid, the drive of which will be borrowed from the BMW X8 M crossover. The familiar V8 4.4 biturbo engine will work together with two electric motors. It is assumed that the total power of the car with four doors and dual transmission will reach 760 hp. and 1000 Nm. But what's even more interesting is that this generation of the M5 will be a pure electric car! The model will receive three engines: one will rotate the wheels on the front axle, the other two on the rear. In total, the power of the installation will be 750 kW (250 for each electric motor), which is equivalent to 1020 hp. Let's see.
