Cleaner for DMRV

Professional DMRV cleaners allow you to clean and restore the performance of the mass air flow sensor and the air pressure sensor without damaging the sensing element itself. When choosing a non-special cleaning agent, it is imperative to take into account its composition, since the air sensor itself is very susceptible to destruction by chemically aggressive substances.

Of all the products on the market specifically designed to remove carbon deposits from the DMRV, DTVV or DDVK sensor, five cleaners turned out to be the most popular and effective. The results of their action have been proven in practical use by many car owners. The rating of DMRV cleaners was compiled according to reviews. in order to make the right choice, study in detail their characteristics, composition and indications for use.

How to choose a DMRV cleaner

Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) - the device is very "sensitive" and prone to damage, so the choice of cleaning agent for it must be approached responsibly. namely, the cleaning liquid should not be chemically aggressive, including with respect to plastic, since otherwise there is a possibility that it will simply “corrode” the inside of the sensor.

Cleaned housing DMRV

Often, drivers do not bother with the choice and use any cleaner in an aerosol can to clean carbon deposits on the sensor, but is it worth it? For example, is it possible to clean the DMRV with a carburetor cleaner? There is no single answer to this question. It all depends on the composition of the carb cleaner. Unfortunately, not all packages of these products clearly indicate what ingredients are included in the composition of the cleaning fluid. Included in many carburetor cleaners includes acetone and other aggressive liquids designed for high-quality cleaning of carbon deposits on throttle valves. However, such carburetor cleaners are not suitable for cleaning the DMRV, because they can simply destroy the working sensor.

Cleaning the DMRV with a carburetor cleaner is only possible for those who do not have acetone or other aggressive substances in their composition.

Whether to use a carburetor cleaner to clean the sensor or not is entirely up to you! But if the composition is not known or there is an aggressive solvent, it is better to abandon such an idea, or at least perform a preliminary test. It consists of the following...

You need to take some box or sheet of thin transparent plastic (such as is used for food containers) and spray carb cleaner on it. In this case, you can smell the composition. Acetone and other chemically aggressive substances also have a sharp specific odor that is easily captured by the sense of smell. After that, you need to wait a few minutes and check the condition of the plastic. If it has become cloudy, and even more so, it has melted, you definitely cannot use such a cleaner, it can only permanently disable the sensor. If nothing happened to the plastic, you can try using it for cleaning. The same test is relevant for contact and disc cleaners (they are quite chemically aggressive).

We recommend and can i use WD-40. After all, in reality WD-40 should NOT be used for these purposes! "Vedeshka" will simply corrode the sensitive element of the sensor, containing brake fluid.

Similarly, you cannot use a jet of compressed air from a machine compressor to clean the mass air flow sensor. This can cause him mechanical damage!

Composition is the main criterion which must be considered when choosing a cleaner for DMRV. The agent must not contain chemically aggressive substances (acetone, plastic and/or rubber solvents). A suitable product can only contain solvents and alcohols. Use cheap means in which it is not clear what acting in addition is dangerous.

So, you need to use liquids for their intended purpose. That is, for cleaning the DMRV, it is best to use professional tools specially designed for this purpose.

How can you clean the DMRV from folk remedies

In the machine practice of ordinary motorists, specialized cleaners are rarely used, due to their high cost. This is often well justified, since often specialty cleaners are based on one or two active ingredients that are more readily available. Acceptable for the use of "folk" means for cleaning the DMRV include:

Formic alcohol bottle

  • Formic alcohol. This is a medical product that is freely sold in pharmacies. Consists of 1,4% formic acid, which is dissolved in 70% ethyl alcohol. Very well deletes various mud deposits and dissolves even old dirt.
  • Isopropyl alcohol. They can wipe the sensor housing from the inside and outside. It is better to apply alcohol to the sensitive elements of the sensor using a syringe. The only point worth considering is that the vapors are harmful to humans, so you need to wear a respirator when working with it.
  • Ethanol. It's similar here. Alcohol dissolves dirt and oil film well. They can wash not only the case, but also sensitive elements by soaking or giving a small jet.
  • Aqueous solution of soap or washing powder. Some drivers simply make a soapy solution, after which they dip the whole sensor there and “rinse” it, followed by washing and drying.
  • Methyl alcohol. It also dissolves grease and dirt on the MAF sensor internals well. It can similarly be sprayed from a medical syringe (preferably with a needle).
When cleaning the sensor, it is important not to touch its sensitive elements! They need to be cleaned without contact!

The listed means in practice show good efficiency and are quite capable of coping with simple pollution, or if they are used for preventive purposes. However, if the mass air flow sensor is covered with a large layer of soot or oily fumes that can get in with a faulty crankcase ventilation system, then not a single “folk” remedy can cope with such pollution. That's why it is best to use professional MAF cleanersspecially designed for this. It is safer, more convenient and more efficient.

Rating of DMRV cleaners

The list of the best cleaners includes 5 products that have proven their effectiveness in practice. The rating was compiled solely on the basis of reviews and tests found on the Internet, therefore it does not advertise any of the means, but only allows you to get acquainted with the action, whether to use them or not is up to the car owner to decide!

When Cleaning Doesn't Help

The cleaners listed above can only help if the DMRV, firstly, is in working condition, and secondly, its clogging is not critical. On average, according to statistics, the resource of an air flow meter is about 150 thousand kilometers. Typically, a wire gauge fails due to the fact that precious metal coatings simply fall off on the sensitive elements: from time, dirt and high temperature. In this case, only replacing the sensor with a new one will help.

Extending the service life can be done in various ways. First of all, you need to regularly monitor the condition of the ICE air filter, since dust and dirt (oil, process fluids, sand, midges) pass through it, which pollute the DMRV. The second reason why you need to monitor to extend the life of the sensor is the state of the internal combustion engine. namely, oil, brake fluid, antifreeze or just dust can get on the sensor. Therefore, it is worth monitoring the state of the internal combustion engine as a whole.

Hack and predictor Aviator

To clean the fuel mass flow sensor, it is best to use not carb cleaners and other similar cleaning products, but professional specialized DMRV cleaners. This is guaranteed to keep the sensor in working condition, and also allows you to get rid of contaminants inside it. As a last resort, if the pollution is small, and there is no desire or opportunity to buy a cleaner, then you can use one of the "folk" remedies that were described above.
