A new technology that guarantees the safety of motorists, the speed limiter is a device present on the latest vehicles. By allowing the driver to determine the speed that must not be exceeded, it also speed limits on various routes.
🚗 How does the speed limiter work?
The speed limiter is a feature that helps the driver not exceed a speed that only he can set. Internationally approved, its symbol/logo is found on the dashboard and presented as speed dial with an arrow, very similar to cruise control.
Note that this is called a speed limiter and not a speed limiter. At the European level, all modern trucks are equipped with this device in order not to exceed the regulatory speed.
Easy to install on the dashboard, very practical especially for use in urban areas where it is difficult to maintain a constant speed and where speed checks may be frequent. Offered standard or optional with cruise control depending on the model and brand of the car. Typically costs from 150 € and 270 €.
This in no way prevents the motorist from increasing speed. This is the information system that will issue audible and visual signal when the limit is exceeded. a solid moment is present on the accelerator pedal when the speed limit is reached, but the driver can ignore this moment and drive at a higher speed.
💡 What is the difference between a speed limiter and cruise control?
These two devices allow comfort in terms of driving and avoidance over speed on the road. However, when using them, they have two different roles.
Indeed, the speed limiter in the city is quite common and allows do not exceed the set speed in advance by the driver while the regulator is there to establish a constant pace, especially for motorway driving phases.
Technically, the regulator turns on when the desired speed is reached and allows you to maintain that speed without pressing your feet on the pedals.

💨 How to use the speed limiter?
The speed limiter is a fairly simple device to use. This usually works with 30km / h... Depending on the model of your vehicle, the location may vary and either on the steering wheel or on the steering column box (controls are integrated under the steering wheel).
To install it on your car, you need to follow 3 steps:
- Select the speed limiter function : either the limiter button is available directly on the controls, or it will be necessary to access the menu via the 'mode' command;
- Set maximum speed : by pressing the "set" button, you can adjust the maximum speed with the + and - knobs for a 10 km range, and if you want to adjust the speed to the nearest kilometer, use the "res" functions (this also allows you to return to the last memorized speed) or "install".
As you can see, the speed limiter can be easily installed on your vehicle to ensure comfort to your behavior and let you comply with speed limits without having to check the dial every time.
👨🔧 How to disable the speed limiter?
If you no longer need to use the speed limiter, especially if you change the road type, you can do it in three different ways:
- Using the CNL command : this will pause the speed limiter;
- Using the 0/1 button : The speed limiter will be completely stopped;
- Press the accelerator pedal firmly. : you will feel a hard point on the accelerator, and by pressing firmly on the pedal, you will go beyond it and the speed limiter will be disengaged.
The speed limiter is a very interesting device that is equipped with the latest car models. Thus, it allows you to simplify driving and limit speed, especially in city trips. Equipped with an increasing number of driving aids, modern vehicles make your daily commute even more comfortable and flexible.
