Drive error in BMW

Driving error is the most common mistake made by car owners. Every BMW owner who encounters this error has gray hair, and for good reason.

Drive error - a general error indicating problems with the motor (drive) or what the motor interacts with, so no one will give an exact answer. Guessing on the Internet does not make sense (unless it is a request via Teamviewer to Rheingold).

Possible reasons

Many people wonder what the problem is when a disk error appears. There is no definite answer, but we will look at popular breakdowns that can occur.

Spark plug

Since there is no ignition in any of the cylinders, the engine does not work properly, which limits power. For example, if the spark plug fails on an N20 engine, only 3 cylinders will work, and the overall car will triple in size. If the diagnostics showed exactly this, you are in luck, since the replacement of the candle will cost ~ 1'000r.

Ignition coils

The second thing that can happen is the failure of the ignition coil. As with a bad spark plug, the engine can be tuned up. The coil costs an average of ~ 1'500r, which is slightly more than the cost of a candle. A failed coil can be tested by placing it in a different slot. If the problem after replacement turns out to be in another cylinder - 100% replacement of the coil and because of this, a drive error occurred.

Nozzles

If the diagnostics revealed problems with the injectors, it is necessary to check the performance of all injectors (only for diesel engines). If you have a diesel engine, then the price of one nozzle varies from 20 to 25 thousand rubles. It is rare when you can buy separate sprinklers (they are 5 times cheaper), but if you find it, then this is a huge savings. In diesel injectors, the atomizer is mainly contaminated. Gasoline injectors are cheaper (on average 10 rubles per original), but the atomizer cannot be changed.

Turbine

In fact, this does not mean that you have to change the turbine. It is possible that the nozzle has broken off and is leaking pressure, so an actuator error is displayed. If you see an error in the diagnostics related to the turbine, you should go to the service and look for it yourself.

Vanos valves

The BMW engine has a Vanos system (Vanos). The main element of this system are solenoid valves, which are solenoids. Its device is quite simple: the piston moves inside the valve stem when voltage is applied to it and opens the oil channels, providing torque at low speeds.

It often happens that the products of oil combustion clog the mesh and valve piston, which reduces oil permeability. However, the actuator error appears when the valves (or one of them) completely fail, so we recommend checking them both physically and programmatically.

Rest

The rest can be attributed to many nodes: injection pump, exhaust system (catalyst clogged), air pressure sensor, etc. The list can be replenished with any part located on the engine, but we tried to indicate the main reasons why the drive error appears.
