"Bumps" have long become an integral part of the roadway, as a method of combating those who like to drive around the yards, in front of kindergartens and schools, and simply as a way to reduce the speed of traffic on a certain section of the road. However, these obstacles also have disadvantages. And very serious.

The first mistake that drivers make when running over a speed bump is not following the speed limit and not knowing how the car's suspension works when braking. Someone prefers to drive through asphalt hillocks, someone crawls, almost stopping, and someone strives to pull over with one wheel to the side of the road.

Meanwhile, the clue on how to properly pass the “policeman” lies in the sign that limits the speed of passing an artificial obstacle, on which the number 20 km / h flaunts in a red circle. At the same time, it is worth slowing down in advance so that on even gas, without using the brake pedal, to overcome the asphalt hillock at the specified speed. If you brake directly in front of an obstacle or right on it, then the already compressed suspension will experience even more load due to the shift in the center of mass towards the front axle. With fully compressed shock absorbers, you can hear a characteristic unpleasant sound.

If you pass the "policemen" on the move, then this is fraught with deformed suspension arms and rapid wear of silent blocks. In addition, an inexperienced driver may lose control and fly off the track with all the ensuing consequences.

Many drivers prefer to pass speed bumps by driving one wheel into an obstacle and the other by turning the wheels to the right and then to the left again, as when passing a snake. Apparently, no one explained to them that in addition to excessive load on the suspension, this method of forcing obstacles threatens with a disk scratched on the curb. In addition, when making such a maneuver, the driver may not pay attention to the fact that a cyclist or other “self-roller” is riding along the side of the road. Turning sharply to the right, he risks not only losing the outside rear-view mirror, but also causing serious injury to other road users.

Pass speed bumps correctly - without pressing the brake directly while overcoming the dune, keeping the wheels straight. So you, at least, will not shorten the life of either the suspension of your car or its braking system, not to mention bearings, shock absorbers and other components and assemblies.
