Report: QuantumScape is lying, it's still in the woods with solid electrolyte cells

For several months, QuantumScape was considered the most promising start-up in the field of solid-state cells. However, now there is a report from Scorpion Capital, a seller company, which shows that there is no disruptive technology in QuantumScape, and the founders of the company want to make money on stocks and ditch (pump and dump).

Is QuantumScape another company boasting a non-existent product?

Scorpion Capital considers QuantumScape the biggest scam since Theranos, a company that claimed to have the technology to perform dozens of different tests with just a drop of blood; its founder has already been charged. The solid state technology that QuantumScape demonstrated should be the invention of "Silicon Valley celebrities".

The report (PDF file, 7,8 MB) cites statements from Volkswagen employees and former QuantumScape employees. Anonymous Volkswagen representatives speak of the lack of transparency [of the research process] and lack of confidence in the data presented. Employees, on the other hand, argue that the technology is extremely difficult to develop and that the CEO may be inclined to artificially alter the results. Simply put: QuantumScape does not solve existing problems and does not have solid state technology.and these cells won't stay in cars for the next ten years.

The presentation we saw in December 2020 was supposed to have been prepared because QuantumScape "today cannot even produce test cells." It is true that the president of the company openly announced that mass production will not begin until 2024, because the technology has not been improved, but hopes have been awakened. QuantumScape has been recognized as the most promising start-up in the solid-state battery segment. The support of JB Straubel, former Tesla co-founder, as a member of the supervisory board (middle front row) has certainly helped:

After the Scorpion Capital report, the company's shares fell about a dozen percent in just one day.

Editor's note www.elektrowoz.pl: new technologies are like state (= "no one's") estates: they always attract swindlers who want to get rich as quickly as possible. It is possible that this time it is the same, because we have heard about breakthroughs in the solid electrolyte segment several times. If so, the biggest loser is us ordinary EV users who are waiting for high energy density batteries that can be recharged at several hundred kilowatts.
