P1000 OBD-II DTC

In case of malfunction - P1000 OBD-II DTC - Technical description

  • Ford P1000: OBDII Monitor Test Incomplete
  • Jaguar P1000: System readiness test not completed
  • Kia P1000: System diagnostics not completed
  • Land Rover P1000: Engine Control Module (ECM) Memory Cleared - Codes Not Stored
  • Mazda P1000: OBDII drive cycle failure

What does this mean?

DTC P1000 is a manufacturer specific fault code. In the case of Ford and Jaguar vehicles, this simply means that OBD-II monitor testing has not been completed. Of similar significance to Mazda is an OBD-II drive cycle malfunction.

If the OBD-II monitor does not perform a full diagnostic check, this DTC may also be set.

Symptoms of a P1000 trouble code may include:

DTC P1000 symptoms will include the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated and that should be it. There should be no other symptoms unless you have other DTCs.

Possible Causes P1000

Possible causes of P1000:

  • Battery or PCM disconnected (Ford, Mazda, Jaguar)
  • Removed Diagnostic Trouble Codes (Ford, Mazda, Jaguar)
  • OBD monitor problem occurred before the end of the drive cycle (Ford)

Possible solutions

While this can be considered a common Ford DTC, it is very minor. In fact, you can safely ignore this code and it should disappear as part of normal driving, you don't need to clear this code (as it may not actually turn off the MIL). If you want the code to clear faster, go through the Ford Drive cycle.

In the case of Jaguar vehicles, we recommend that you run Jaguar Drive cycles to clear the code.

However, if you have other trouble codes, the malfunction indicator lamp will stay on as there are other problems.

TECHNICAL NOTES

This code simply indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) has not completed a full diagnostic cycle and is set when the battery has been disconnected, the codes have been cleared, and sometimes even when the vehicle has been towed. A scanner is not required to clear the code, driving the vehicle for several minutes (sometimes more) to complete the diagnostic cycle will clear the code. Resetting the code will reset the light if there are no other codes. What does it mean?

WHEN DISCOVER CODE P1000?

If DTC P1000 runs after clearing the DTCs, it means that all engine management system OBD diagnostic monitor driving cycles have not been cleared.

DESCRIPTION FORD R1000

The OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) monitors work during the OBD cycle. P1000 is stored in non-volatile memory if any of the OBD monitors fails a full diagnostic check.

Good morning. Problem with Ford focus zeltec se.
After changing the timing belt, the engine started and ran properly. The following day he started to lose some strokes and at the minimum he dislodged, while he was able to do some acceleration bringing the speed to about 4/5000 rpm. Then with other tests it was no longer able to start the engine, because it starts at idle for a very short time and then shaves and turns off. Checked the distribution phase and it is correct. The tester indicates error P 1000. Thank you for your kind advice.
