Front silent blocks for Mercedes-211 4matic

Rubber-metal bearings (silent blocks) consist of two metal bushings, between which there is an insert made of pressed rubber or polyurethane. They perform an important function: they smooth out the ride of the car, dampen vibrations, shocks, suspension vibrations, etc.

Broken roads and active car use lead to excessive loads. And even in a luxury car like the Mercedes 211 4matic, bearings wear out over time.

To visually determine the wear of rubber and metal seals, you need to put the Mercedes 211 4matic in the pit and inspect it. The rubber part of the mount must be smooth and free of cracks. Visually, wear is indicated by a twisted tilt / convergence, as with broken hinges, the front levers are twisted.

Replacement of rubber-metal bearings should be carried out urgently with an increase in backlash.

The following signs indicate that the silent blocks are worn out:

  • increased vibrations when driving Mercedes 211 4matic;
  • rubber insert wear;
  • while driving, the car pulls in one direction, then in the other;
  • rapid wear of protectors;
  • strange noise while driving.

If your car has one or more of these signs, you should drive the Mercedes 211 4matic to a car service as soon as possible and replace the front silent blocks. You can replace them yourself, but for this you need to have basic repair skills. This article will tell you how to replace silent blocks on a Mercedes 211 4matic.

Replacing silent blocks on a Mercedes car

It is convenient to change rubber and metal bearings on a Mercedes 211 4matic with a special tool - a puller. If such a tool is not available, then you can replace it with the help of improvised means.

Replacement with a puller

Before pressing in worn silent blocks, it is necessary to cut two small cuts from the support sleeve, then warm the front levers with hot air at a temperature of 55-70 degrees Celsius. After that, you can proceed to pressing. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. install the fan housing outside the beam;
  2. put a mounting sleeve on the bolt;
  3. install the bolt in the hole of the rubber-metal hinge;
  4. put a washer on the back of the bolt;
  5. press the washer against the extractor body and tighten the nut until the silent blocks are pressed.

Pressing new parts onto the suspension arms of the Mercedes 211 4matic occurs in the following sequence:

  1. install the extractor body outside the lever, while the marks on its body must match the marks on the tongue;
  2. a support washer must be installed on the bolt;
  3. insert the bolt into the eye of the lever;
  4. put a new part on it;
  5. screw the nut into the mounting sleeve;
  6. turn the new silent block towards the lever and press it all the way.

Note! If it is not possible to press worn parts, they can be cut with a hacksaw. This will significantly weaken the silent block.
