Motorcycle overheating: causes and solutions

Several faults can cause the motorcycle to overheat. There are several signs you can use to tell if your bike is getting hot. He starts to hiccup. Accidental blowing of the fan also indicates a malfunction. You can also smell gasoline in the exhaust fumes. You will have to worry more if the machine no longer starts.

We often find reasons related to mechanical problems. Overheating of mechanical origin is of particular interest to us in this article. So what are the causes of overheating and how to fix them? Check all circuit components that may be causing the malfunction.

There are a few precautions you can take to prevent these kinds of problems. The best solution is to find out the cause and take appropriate measures.

Mechanical problems causing overheating

Extreme use may cause overheating, but this is temporary. It can be argued that most of the failure is caused by mechanical problems. They need to be adjusted, otherwise the strength of your parts will be reduced.

Basically, an internal combustion engine works like this: a third of the calories in gasoline is converted into mechanical energy. The rest must be removed through the outline. Thus, a balance must be found between the production and release of calories.

Drops of gasoline quickly spread the flame front. Lack of fuel is a common cause of motorcycle overheating.... Slows down the movement of the flame front. In the absence of sufficient fuel, the combustion time slows down, which leads to overheating of the engine.

Advance ignition can also cause overheating. This increases the pressure in the cylinder and can cause detonation. The latter can even pierce the piston due to the explosion. It depends on the degree of pressure.

The water pump can be a problem if the drive fails. It can't cool the engine enough. The solution is to check the rotation of the water pump when starting the engine.

La air bubbles in the cooling circuit is also a factor causing overheating. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the mixing of the air by the water pump.

Failure of the calorstat can also cause overheating.... This equipment allows water to circulate to the radiator when the engine is hot. It deforms depending on the temperature of the cooling circuit. If the engine reaches enough, the calorostat opens, allowing water to circulate. This reduces mechanical wear and emissions. Its malfunction leads to overheating of the engine.

Le thermostat used to measure the temperature of air bubbles and water circulation in a smaller circuit when the engine is cold. It is also involved in the proper functioning of the engine. Helps to warm up the engine as quickly as possible. In the event of a failure, it cannot turn on the fan.

The thermostat works in the same way as a caloriestat. It opens and closes depending on the temperature. Its role is to start the fan when the temperature rises. Therefore, its malfunction causes the engine to overheat.

Le oil level too low may also cause overheating. It also has a cooling role.

Effective solutions to prevent overheating

The ideal option would be to replace equipment in case of failure. Even if the car starts up again, the temperature will rise inexorably. The motorcycle diagnostic device is used to check various components and prevent damage at the wrong time.

A clogged radiator can also be a problem. The radiator uses air to limit the temperature rise. It also helps to improve cooling. Dirt builds up over time. Hence the interest in regular cleaning. If it is covered in dust, it reduces its effectiveness and can no longer fulfill its role properly.

It is highly visible, so it is easy to spot if it is closed. They should be washed with HP cleaner. A water jet or bellows is an effective solution for the dirt clogging this equipment.

Le white vinegar cleaning is an effective natural descaler. You can also add small passive radiators if you travel around town frequently.

We distinguish between liquid-cooled and air-cooled two-wheelers. First, it may be due to a fire. Care should be taken when installing or replacing original spark plugs with those with higher thermal resistance.

The so-called cold candles have a higher thermal resistance. Do not forget check ignition settings... Feel free to top up with one or two plugs of oil.

Adding a spoonful of forced cooling helps cool the engine faster. The caps surrounding the cylinder are not sufficient to prevent air circulation and create powerful thrust.

If your two-wheeled bike is liquid-cooled, you must ensure that the calorostat is working properly. Choose good quality coolant which has the best heat dissipation ability.

An insufficient amount of coolant reduces the efficiency of water circulation. Thus, it is necessary monitor fluid levels regularly

An excessively rapid drop in the liquid level indicates the possibility of a leak in the circuit or in the water / air heat exchanger. To avoid unexpected breakdowns, make sure the fluid level is not too low. This leaves room for air and makes cooling difficult.

Normal mechanical overheating. It is possible that this is due to how do you ride a motorcycle... In this case, it is necessary to behave well in order to prevent damage.

The intense heat in summer contributes to overheating. When stationary, it is best to turn off the engine. This gesture remains more useful for your engine. Another precaution is to place the two-wheeled motorcycle in the shade to avoid engine temperatures rising.
