Holidays, winter holidays, winter holidays – there are many opportunities to transport sports equipment by car. Doesn't always fit in trunk. What then? There are several solutions to choose from. It all depends on how many people we are going to pack, in what car and with what equipment we are going to go.
What options do we have? Additional luggage can be carried in the car. It's not convenient or safe. If we go to the slope by car every day, then every day after lunch we will have to carefully clean the skis or boards from snow. It is impossible to remove snow from all nooks and crannies, so a large amount of water quickly accumulates inside the car, or rather in the rugs.
We must not forget about safety. Skis or a board in the back seat, even with a minor collision, can be a huge danger to the driver and passengers. In many countries, regulations clearly define the rules for transporting sports equipment inside a vehicle, prohibiting this type of activity.
In sedan cars, skis can be transported through a hole in the rear seat that connects the trunk to the passenger compartment. Most often, we also have a special sleeve (bag) at our disposal, which ensures that the skis do not fly out through the cabin in the event of a collision. If the ski car does not have a full complement of passengers, this may be a good solution. Even in this case, it is possible to fill the cabin with water. Even if the sleeve is tight, it will be wet in the trunk. The opening in the daybed comfortably accommodates two pairs of skis and cannot fit a snowboard in it. This introduces restrictions that are unacceptable to many people.

Sports equipment can be transported in special holders that are attached to the roof rails or directly on the roof. These solutions are relatively cheap, simple and effective. They are great for transporting skis from the hotel to the slopes. Thanks to this, after the trip, the water from the skis does not wet the interior of the car, but flows down the roof. However, this solution also has disadvantages. If we want to transport our equipment over long distances in this way, it will be exposed to the weather. When driving on salty roads and during snowfall, wet salt spray penetrates the nooks and crannies of ski and snowboard racks. Will not remain indifferent to the edge of skis or boards.
The best solution would be to use a roof rack, i.e. coffins. We can say that this is the golden mean. It can store several sets of skis with poles and boots or several snowboards. Of course, you can also transport other cargo - the limit is determined by its size and weight. The boxes are supplied in various options, adapted to the richness of the customer's portfolio and their expectations regarding the cubic capacity of the box. They do not dramatically increase the noise in the car and do not significantly increase fuel consumption. Luggage is protected from water, salt and other contaminants.

The most expensive ones are lighter in terms of carrying capacity and have very convenient and easy-to-use mounting systems. Their lids can open on two sides. The solution facilitates the packing and removal of skis. The lid can be supported by a gas spring, which also affects its functionality. So this is the best way to transport winter sports equipment. Remember that such a box can come in handy in the summer.
