First telegraphs

The first remote messages were sent using a device that today can be called a sound telegraph. There was also a fire telegraph. The first was an ordinary wooden log or wooden drum covered with leather. These objects were struck by hands or selected objects. The arrangement of sounds emitted by the instrument was a certain signal, the equivalent of one of the most characteristic and important messages. Thus, the message, wandering from settlement to settlement, could quickly cover a distance of many kilometers. Today the sound telegraph is still found in Africa.
