Certainly, putting it on - if it really takes place - is extremely dangerous. A rope placed around the motorcyclist's neck, the other end of which is tied to the handlebar or motorcycle frame, as its name suggests, contributes to his death in the event of an accident. Death may occur as a result of spinal cord rupture or strangulation. Motorcyclists unanimously claim that the death loop is designed to protect them from permanent disability, which could be the result of a road accident in the event of high speed, at which motorcyclists most often move. Is the death loop just a myth or is it actually used?

What is a death loop?

The death loop is a term associated with the risky behavior of some motorcyclists. This term is used to describe a steel cable put around the neck by them, the other end of which is attached to the handlebar tube or other element of the motorcycle. Riding with a lanyard around the neck has one purpose - in the event of an accident, it is to ensure a quick death for the person who puts the noose around his neck. Although this seems to be an extremely drastic solution, lovers of fast riding on two wheels treat it as a way to protect themselves from the serious consequences of an accident, which could mean permanent disability for them for the rest of their lives. In other words, they would rather die than struggle with disability. The use of the death loop has one more function. Well, it provides an incredible dose of adrenaline, making driving even more exciting. And although for the vast majority of people it is tantamount to a kind of madness, there are many who are still looking for excitement, and the loop is one of them for them.

Death loop - myth or truth?

For many people, the very creation of the concept of the death loop is incomprehensible. For others, it is equated with suicide. However, it should be borne in mind that the use of such a drastic solution by motorcyclists is sometimes only legendary, because few admit to it. Usually, the death loop is related to stories and passing information about it, which is a legend not fully confirmed by facts. It is very difficult to reach motorcyclists who openly say that they use this method. Usually, however, even they do not want to reveal their identity for fear of the reaction of their loved ones and the whole society.

Why do motorcyclists wear steel cables?

The pressure from society is so great that motorcyclists even cut themselves off from the death loop, trying not to be identified with it. They explain their attitude by the fact that a real motorcyclist maintains the maximum level of caution, not looking for extreme sensations by force. On the other hand, the few who admit to riding with a steel braid argue their attitude in two ways. The first group consists of those who are looking for strong (even extreme) sensations, want to push their limits, need an extra dose of adrenaline. Although they realize that each event will prove fatal for them as a result, and in case of trouble they have no chance of survival, they take the risk by putting the noose around their necks again.

What other reasons are there?

The second group is dominated by people who - although it sounds drastic - choose the death loop as the so-called. lesser evil. For them, there is no doubt - death is a better solution than long-term and sometimes very deep disability. Putting a noose around the neck and breaking off at the time of an accident is a chance to avoid its consequences, which they take into account. They are people who are very careful while riding a motorcycle, do not take unnecessary risks and use common sense on the road. They know that caution is one thing and accidental is another. Common sense is not always enough. They justify their behavior by not wanting to be a burden to anyone. They are aware of the serious health consequences of a motorcycle accident and do not want to condemn themselves to suffering, and their relatives to the need to take care of them. So they make a conscious decision about their fate before it becomes impossible.
