Model 208, like the test model, perfectly fits these criteria - and even more. Beautiful? The little Peugeot hasn't had a shape problem since 207 (okay, the 208 in between didn't really stand out), and the 17 is certainly no exception. Either way, it's got a nice (but not overly sporty) shape when (as a test) it gets the extra XNUMX-inch wheels and a matte finish and it becomes something special. Usually passers-by just look curiously at the more special test cars, this time it was different: the color that most wanted to touch was to blame.

The classic question is paint or foil. Yes, Peugeot made an impression of matte colors, although at the moment there are "only" two - silver and gray. Inside, the seats are partially upholstered in leather; That the 208 is slightly different in this regard is confirmed by gauges that are visible above the steering wheel rather than through it. The solution may be unusual at first glance, and someone may not be able to find a comfortable driving position due to the lower steering wheel (if the driver raises it too high, he may block some of the sensors), but in reality this can also be get used to. A side effect is a small steering wheel that quickly approaches the heart, and switching to one of the cars with a usually large steering wheel may even raise the question of the meaning of a larger steering wheel ... But what about comfort? We already wrote that the 208 has a fairly comfortable chassis (although it is also good in corners), and even 17-inch wheels and because of them low-profile tires do not spoil the impression. But this time it's different: between the engine and the wheels.

There is a new-generation (and Japanese-made) six-speed automatic transmission that works great with a 110-horsepower three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. The 1,2-liter engine already has a fair amount of torque (for its size and purpose), and where it might end, the automatic kicks in. Thus, city driving is expected to be smooth and easy, and, just as well, such a 208 won't end up out of town or on the highway. It's true that since it has a gasoline engine, not a diesel one, you won't set any low mileage records with it, but 5,7 liters on our standard lap and just under a liter of test consumption proves that even a gasoline automatic can be enjoyable. economical. And comfort (and no diesel chatter) is also worth something, right?
