Peugeot 807 2.2 HDi FAP Premium

As small as the car is, manufacturers also emphasize its family character. In principle, this is true and it depends on the wishes, requirements and especially on the budget, but if you look at the absolute, with such a Peugeot, everything smaller can only hide.

Whether Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat or Lancia, this is the ideal family car for the average European family: excellent accessibility, extremely spacious interior, excellent usability, excellent flexibility and – in this case – good performance.

They deserve the most advanced Pees turbodiesel to date, a 2-liter bi-turbo engine capable of delivering so much torque and power that even with very high demands on the driver, they will never run out. Neither a large frontal area (aerodynamics), nor almost 2 tons of mass stop 1 Newton meters of torque, so at least up to 8 kilometers per hour such a 370 will not budge with the slightest addition of gas.

Its fine feature is sophistication: it successfully hides its turbine (or twin-turbine) character; it may indeed take him a moment or two to catch his breath, but his ability to do so sharply and violently, yet decisively, increases.

With greater tolerance, the driver can count on the engine being ready to accelerate the body with all its contents decisively at any time, while taking into account - in view of the weight and aerodynamic frames - also a rather favorable fuel consumption.

In our test, consumption never exceeded 12 liters per 100 kilometers, although at times we were not very forgiving. When driving economically out of town, this 807 was content with less than eight liters per 100 kilometers, and we also did not slow down.

Although it already looks large, its size is perfectly acceptable on most normal roads, as well as in parking lots. Side sliding doors (remote electric opening) and interior space (transition from the front seats to the second row) also help.

The seats are still considered to be relatively small, the seat tilted too little and (in front) too short backward travel, so that the speedometer (in the arrow position on the right) is sometimes not visible at all. to position the exterior mirrors higher and the parking PDC does not indicate when you are approaching an obstacle. It is also believed that the steering position is very good, as is the driver's position, as well as the view around and the view (except for the nose).

Anyone who can afford a good 35 thousand euros in the budget for the purchase and who has the space and money for maintenance will get a spacious and comfortable car with many accessories that other competitors do not offer - or not for this money for this size and these features .

Handy little things like four sun visors on the rear side windows, separate (and removable) seats, good armrests, high gear lever, leather seats, numerous drawers, efficient rear seat vents, very good interior lighting and longitudinal roof racks with crossbars make it easier to spend time in the car and with it, even on long trips. The fact that the electronics of the test car were very annoying is already considered a possible "gum" when buying.

If we start with size and flexibility and highlight this with exceptional performance at moderate fuel consumption, which has not been offered by similar cars so far, it certainly applies: the 807 with this engine is an almost perfect combination. But there is always room for improvement.
